Hair help?

Ok, using a crude drawing in mspaint, I've created this picture of my hair (http://img117.imageshack.us/img117/1712/hairt.jpg).

Not entirely sure I like the parted down the middle thing, but for now I'd like to focus on straightening the right side out: Any suggestions? The left side of my hair lays flat, but the right side sort of curves to point out at an almost right angle to my head. It's really annoying. Last time I asked a hair stylist about it, she told me, 'That's just how your hair grows, nothing you can really do about it'. :thumbsdown:

I haven't tried anything yet - what is my best option here? Flat iron? I'm not a fan of copious amounts of products like hair gel and hair spray if I don't have to, even a little makes my hair feel kinda hard and stiff, and I can't stand that. A different way of brushing it possibly? Is there something I'm doing wrong when it's wet?

The picture doesn't work... also, instead of MS Paint, if you don't want to post a pic of yourself, find someone with similar hair.

either way, i think leaving it straightened would be good, and leave it at that

Kind of, but one length all around. Notice how the hair on one side curves and sticks out?that looks pretty tacky in my opinion, but who knows, it might work for you.

either way, i think leaving it straightened would be good, and leave it at thatIt just might be, I need to change it up, I'm just not sure what kind of style to aim for. A bit paranoid about posting my picture online, alas.

What would you recommend for straightening, a flat iron?

How about a picture that ISN'T a cartoon. From those two it looks like you have a combination of Weird Al's hair and a christmas tree.

I'm looking for a good picture, it's not going so well. Edit: It does something kinda like this (http://www.connectstores.com/wigsrusltd/images/CharlieNILCD.jpg) (on her right side, picture's left), but flat on the other side, a bit longer, and parted down the middle. Aha, I've discovered the problem and a possible solution. I believe I have chronic bed head. You see, I work at a very, very filthy job - 1-9PM. As a result, I get home and want to shower immediately. Of course, this leads to my hair being wet. Then I go to bed a few hours later - my hair isn't dripping wet, but is still damp. Of course, I've been doing this so long my hair is nearly permanently stuck in 'stick out to one side' mode.

Solution: Get a haircut to cut off the damage, and try to dry the hair before bed. Any suggestions on that, blow drying maybe? I've always liked air drying, but clearly with my going to bed at night with damp hair it isn't going to work.

Now, I can also shower again every morning before heading off to work, but with how hot it is here that's just asking for major frizz, as I work outside all day.

Seems like I'm screwed no matter what. Halp. Is blow drying the hair a cure for all my woes?

Well, I'm in a similar spot as you, OP. I have half an hour each morning to do my hair, which I do right after my shower. I towel off my hair, apply some product (for smoothness and frizz control), and let it dry for a bit (in the meantime I'll be dressing, brushing my teeth, shaving, etc). When it starts to dry, my hair sets into its natural kinks, which I take out with a straightening iron and the mentioned product. I'll put a dab of this 'thermal protection' product on the ends I'm about to go at beforehand so the heat from the flat iron doesn't damage my hair. Then I give my hair a spritz from this moisturizing spray (the flat iron can leave hair dry). You could always blow-dry, but I don't like how it leaves my hair (too much damn volume :rant:)

If it weren't for the humid-as-all-fuck tropical climate here, I wouldn't have to go through this spiel every morning, either :(

It just destroys my skin and hair. :( I have to spend an eternity trying to undo any damage I can, only to have all my work undone the next day. :p

My hair cut seems to have cured it. For how long I don't know, but I'm going to be more careful before bed now. :D

I really haven't had longer hair for very long, mostly just growing it out at this point. Any suggestions, anyone, for protecting my hair from my job? :D Maybe some sort of leave-in conditioner will help?

Aye. Whenever I get my hair cut short it tends to be much more manageable. My cue for getting my hair cut is when the frizz and waves get especially annoying, as they are now. I'll get it cut sometime this week.

Oh my god I laughed so hard when I saw the picture.Yeah, it was pretty bad, wasn't it? Well, if it got someone to laugh then it was worth making! :DMy deepest condolences :(Yeah, this whole area is terrible. I plan on getting out of here as soon as I can. :)

As for my hair thing, it no longer has problems and lays how I want it to. :D Go haircuts! Now I need to rethink the actual style, which sucks majorly. :p
