Herta Mueller wins the nobel prize

i don't know that she specifically won for her new novel atemschaukel. it's apparently about how romanians were boo hoo treated badly by the soviets. i can't speak on whether it's a good novel or not.

i am very disillusioned with the nobel prize in in literature. it''s not quite as bad as the nobel peace prize but still pretty ridiculous. generally they don't choose novels based on any kind of literary merit but instead just choose a book where the author whines about oppression.

anyway the kite runner was an incredibly awful novel and i don't think i will ever respect the nobel prize for literature. no offense to ms mueller.
