View Full Version : Military after college?

I come from a family with a fairly large military background. My dad served in the Air Force during Vietnam, my older brother served as an Army calvary scout, my sister was a MP in the Marines, my grandfather fought in Korea, most of my uncles have military backgrounds, and two of my cousins were officers (one of them is still in).

I've always wanted to join the military, but I chose to go the college route instead. I've been considering this option since I've applied to college. I'm a 3rd year right now, I graduate in spring 11, so I have some time to think about it. I just want to know if anyone here has enlisted after graduating? If I end up joining, I'll probably enlist and leave the door open for OCS. I'm leaning towards the Army, the Navy is a close second.

Haven't really put to much thought into that, maybe intelligence (I would need a really high ASVAB score). I have a squeaky clean record, so I'm sure that helps with that. I have no idea, I'll probably talk to a recruiter later on in the year if I start getting serious about it.

I knew a guy who went to college and then enrolled in an officer leadership program and started at a higher rank.

His first real assignment was manning and supervising patriot missile silos in South Korea.

It seemed like a pretty sweet program, to me.
