The New Night Ops Thread:

Post all about the missions that you've been doing during the night. Whether it be stealing, vandalism, exploring, or anything interesting that you came across.

Ill start it off,

One night my buddy was out car hopping and stealing anything else he wanted. He hit it up pretty hard, he had 3 ipods, a couple Stereo faceplates, nice sunglasses, and around 100 dollars. He starts headin home and on the way back sees an open garage. My buddy decides to check it out, Nothin much in the garage decides to check the fridge out. He finds a case of beer and a bottle of Bacardi. Starts to leave and then someone opens the door to the garage. He looks at em and starts runnin. This big ass dude runs after him and whips out his phone and must of been callin the police. He drops the the 30 pack and start hopin through backyards. He losses the guy after a little while. He sees a cop and the cop sees him too. He starts runin a again the cop turns around and starts chasin him. My friends know the nieghborhood and is fast as hell and losses the cop. He's near my house and calls me up. He says, "open your door the cops are chasin me i need to go to your house. Ill be there soon." Around ten minutes later he comes to my house, his legs and arms are all bloody from runin the through the woods. His heart was still pounded and he shows me what he got. He sold the ipods and face plates and ended up with about 500 dollars.

SWIM's first real night mission happened only a few nights ago:

SWIM was walking down the street during the day and noticed a certain cactus SWIM liked the look of, SWIM noticed it was similar to San Pedro. So SWIM went home, check on erowid, and sure enough, the flowers were identical. So SWIM started thinking about how to get some.

Unfortunatly the Cactus was on the property of a local Catlady/Shut-in. So after SWIM snuck out of their house, SWIM went into the shed, grabbed the hedge clippers, WD40, a torch and a knife and started to walk to her house. SWIM got there, was getting ready to spray her gate with WD40 so it wouldn't squeak, and noticed a padlock. Fuck, SWIM thought, SWIM's guna have to jump the fence.

So as SWIM was getting ready to do so, SWIM hear voices coming down the street, So SWIM ran down her neighbours driveway and hid behind their house. SWIM thinks the people stopped at the entrace of the driveway because their voices sounded very close for ages. Then they got even louder so SWIM was thinking they were coming down the driveway. SHIT SHIT SHIT SWIM was thinking. SWIM's guna have to run. But fortunatly, they didn't.

So SWIM managed to climb the fence silently, and get the hedge clippers out of their bag and slice off a 16" section of San Pedro Cactus. Man SWIM was proud of SWIMself.

(Btw San Pedro is a psychedelic cactus, contains mescaline. SWIM wouldn't steal a plant just to put it in SWIM's garden, unless it was to grow more drugs :D)

Ahh night ops. Good times.

A little while ago (probably a week or two, keeping track of time is ftl) I decided I would go out. I waited until 1 in the morning and put on some dark clothing. I grabbed my torch, knife, and lock pick set and headed out my back door.

I jumped my neighbor's fence and went out their front gate, crossed the street and did the same to them to get a few blocks from my house. Unfortunately, I had no real objective in the whole thing, the area I live in doesn't really have any abandoned houses or construction sites or wooded areas. I decided I would check out a few cars. I started going driveway-to-driveway checking for unlocked cars and then digging through the ones that were unlocked. I didn't find much of interest.

I noticed that one of the houses had a good sized vent thingamajig on the side of their garage, usually they're pretty small; about a foot and a half wide and a foot tall. This one was about twice that. I took out my torch and shined it in to see if there was anything in there. There was a car, which I assumed was unlocked because it was indoors, some shelves and a workbench. I tried to pry off the screen but it was screwed on so I just slashed it with my knife.

I squeezed through the vent and started quietly checking out the garage. The car was unlocked and had the guy's wallet sitting on the dash. Score. I took the cash and a gift card that was in it, left the debit and credit because the debit card had no pin on it (yay retards who write their pin on their card) and I don't feel like being charged with credit card fraud.

I then went to the shelves. Nothing but generic storage. Christmas lights, camping supplies, etc. All I found of slight interest was a 3" hunting knife(same length as my blade) I left it because it was dull. Not much on the workbench either, grabbed a few expensive looking hand-tools. As I was getting ready to leave I saw a decent sized lock box. About 5 minutes after I started picking the lock(security pins ftl) I heard the guy walking around above me. I panicked and tried to pick faster but just killed the pick I was using and just unscrewed the lockbox from where it was secured with my newly acquired tools and pushed it out of my entry point, squeezed through and hid in the bushes.

I had been pretty quiet the whole time so I don't think he heard me. I hid in a bush across the street until his lights turned off, being the paranoid sob that I am. I was just about to go when his garage opened. I was thinking "OHSHIT" and about shit myself when that happened, but then he just pulled out of his driveway and drove off, probably really pissed. It would suck to have to leave for work at 3 in the morning.

Anyway after that I left and went home. I took a crowbar to the lock box and checked out the contents. Not a whole lot in there: 200$ cash.

Overall I got about 250$ cash, a 20$ best buy card, a killed lockpick, a set of allen wrenches, and a screwdriver ratchet thing with a set of different sized heads.

tl;dr: I stole some shit and hid in a bush for awhile.

Glad to see a Night Ops thread started on here.

I haven't done anything recently, but I might do one within the next week or so. There's a school which looks like it could be fun.

Ye, look forward to posting in this soon.

Last time I went car hopping I hit maybe 20 cars tops and got a cd player + headphones and a bunch of change. Gonna do a big car shopping hit sometime in the future, when the snow melts.

Does it have to be at nighttime to be nightops? I have a similar story, but it was during the daytime.

A few years ago SWIM discovered a site used for storing explosives ages ago. Nothing was being stored there anymore, but there were keep out signs and the occasional visit by park rangers. The site is located on a bay in an uninhabited area. There were a few boats mored there.

SWIM was sneaking around at first, then said fuck it and started walking around in the open. SWIM thought no one would care. So SWIM climbed through a hole in the fence and walked around a few of the buildings.

Ten minutes later a black inflatable boat with a couple of dudes on it comes into the bay. One of them jumps into the water and starts swimming to shore about 200m away. SWIM immediately sought shelter.

The complex has about seven buildings in it and a large cliff behind it. There is one exit either side of the cliff. But now dudes were blocking those exits.

The boat docks and SWIM is against the cliff. Fortunately there was a ladder up the cliff. Most of the ladder was covered by a building, but the top bit was exposed. SWIM had not choice but to climb the ladder. SWIM did so and successfully escaped into the bushland where SWIM lost those following him.

Feelin' the love. But I don't care about/want tribute, night ops is an open source pursuit. Besides, the REAL original creator was Infrared, and before him, probably some curious caveman.

Maybe this switch will help me get motivated to actually write again. Also, as soon as the news hit my group got the word around and we crawled TOTSE before it started pulling files. Everything SHOULD be intact, I just have to sort through the files now. Anyone interested in a night ops compilation archive?

Also, I wrote a bit of an obscure Urban Survival guide recently if there's interest for that here. It's meant for the rather unlikely scenario of you having to escape pursuit or whatever and stay on the streets for awhile, or like if you drive to a distant town and for some reason can't get back. I was bored.

EDIT - By the way, M@X would you happen to be the "Max" that was over at the old nightops.net website?

wow, this is a huge nostalgia trip... i must post this, It is something I posted on NON a long time ago.

We are a special breed of people. We need that extra... "danger" in our lives that just following the same mundane schedule of work, eat, sleep, eat, repeat can't possibly provide us. We are more in touch with our primal instincts and we feel the need of that stress of being hunted and hunting at the same time used to give our earliest relatives. The need... the addiction almost outweighs the possibility of jail in the same way that a heroin addict doesn't care that he or she is killing him or herself just to get that high. What we do is much the same. Some of us chase the 'high' from evasion, detection, and success. Others keep coming back for the money and the souvenirs that they 'obtain'. Though the same can be said for all of us, Night Operations fills or used to fill that space, fulfill that need, for... the danger, the money, the 'high', and possibly most importantly the fun derived from learning, seeing, and gathering information from what is being withheld from us.

This is my definition of an opper and why they do it. This may not fit all of you here but it certainly fits me and most of those that I have had the great privilege to associate with and share information about the pastime, no... the lifestyle, that I love so much.

-evil_0ne

yeah, i got arrested and had my shit confiscated (computer) so I canceled NON acct that way no police could continue viewing the site as me. I am on a temporary leave seeing as I'm on probation.

Ah fair enough. We had a guy with that name who, in my opinion, got banned pretty unfairly and is part of the reason I became an admin there. He actually had some decent critiques to offer, but you know how power trips go...

Calypso,
In all reality, I haven't touched it in a long time. I get massive motivation problems working on it, even Biohazard - the other guy working on it - is having the same issue. But I've got a good feeling about this place. I can probably work myself back up to that point where I feel motivated to finish it again.
As for the archives and the guide, you got it. With some luck the guy who crawled TOTSE will be coming over this weekend with the hard drive he's got it on, so I'll sort through it after he leaves. I'll copy and paste what's done on the urban survival guide in a couple minutes.

I always used to stay up at my Bros house and he lives close to the Hi-Way, His next door neighbor has this Apple Tree. One night we got a garbage bag and literally filled it up chock-o-bloke and went up to the round-about and sat right in the middle, We bruised the apples on the site of the road and prepared to deploy. Trucks started flowing through the Hi-Way. We laid in the Bushes in the Round-About and each truck that went past we threw about 3+ Applezz! Whether it was at the window or the back we hit it, 90% of the time we did. As the night went on we went out to a 24-Hour Service Station & ordered as some chips, We ate them came back and wanted to call it a night right after the next Semi. We were in the bushes and I was looking at the stars and then on the Pine Tree I seen Red & Blue Lights flashing AKA COPZ. I was just lol'in and my mate was serious. We laid down not game enough to look, Liam put his head over the bush and seen that the cops pulled some car over... We then sprinted to down this Street. In the local paper there is this little section called 'On The Beat' basically it's a police report and a 'Wanted List' it read something like 'Trucking Company Targeted to Low Vandalism Act'. It just read all this Bullshit. We didn't get caught.

Scope it out carefully, you can never be too careful. About knife, hmm its good to have wpn but knife is bit too dangerous, not too much fun if ya accidentally kill someone. I prefer nunchucks myself, good tool if ya know how to use em, ya can easily disarm, nockout, break bones etc with it and ya wont kill someone instantly if ya dont intend to do so :D Also nunchucks vs knife -> nunchucks inferior, but you have to practise use of em a lot.

If you're gonna take a knife just use a short blade.

Don't need a machete to scare/injure someone.

Flatland
01-21-2009, 12:04 AM
I still refrain from bringing a knife on ops. I don't really feel I need it, and in the unlikely case that I am caught on an op, I don't want that charge on me. Don't get me wrong for some ops you definately need a knife, but I don't usually take one.

While I'm on the subject, what kinds of charges would I recieve if I was picked up on an op. Not breaking in, not stealing or vandalising... just out after curfew With a mask but without gloves or a "weapon". Some sort of disturbance of peace charge? On top of a curfew charge I'd assume, but once I turn 18 even the curfew charge would be dropped eh?

I know cops are assholes..and would probably try to get me for anything they can but I have very close connections with my local police department and county court system, so any minor charges would probably be taken care of.

Are there any larger charges I'm overlooking as a result of being caught during a "harmless" op?

I can see trespassing in my situation, I'm only in residential areas usually, just on peoples lawns/unfenced backyards on these "harmless" ops. I don't believe I would get a breaking and entering charge. Anything else worth mentioning?

I don't know if anyone remembers me finding a stop sign and a golf cart in a shed, but I'm still thinking about the golf cart and....

A few nights ago I finally fulfilled my plans. I was to CREATE my own intersection. Me and my buddy go out and rip two stop signs out of the ground in a neighborhood to avoid manslaughter charges and made my own intersection. We grabbed a shovel from a wonderfully kind neighbor's house and planted the stop signs on the bigger road outside the neighborhood where there were no side roads! Lol. So now there's a stop sign for both lanes, but no side roads to stop for. The funniest part is almost EVERYONE we saw stopped at it, tried to figure out why they were stopping and continued on. They stayed up for like 4 days before someone took them down. It was hilariously ingenius though.

Yes, in most countries/city's, but here in the smallish town of New Plymouth, there aren't all that many cameras, save for the inner city.

Well I think a good 75% of these posts are bullshit.
Anyways.

About to go on a night op. Donned my Camo Pants, have my nice Parka, and I look invisible in the smallest bit of shadow, as I always do in this outfit.
BDU's are a great investment btw.

Now what I came to realize right before I left was that, unless you are amazingly fast, dont wear boots on night ops, because they slow you down extremely.
Im going out tonight with some LIGHT and COMFORTABLE New Balance running shoes. I can probably run a good 30% faster in these than in my heavy ass SWAT boots.

About to go explore, only damage im going to cause is clipping my girlfriends fence on my way back from my rounds, so in the future I dont have to jump damned barb wire to get some late night pussy ;) Later.

Not really a night op but a fun night.

Me and my friend had a case of beer and a bottle of vodka.
One of my friends was out of town, and said we could use his house if we needed to crash somewhere or wanted to have a little party. We had the garage door code and the motherfucker didnt work. We were like this blows. Then luckily, I remebered i had my bump keys. I bumped is door and did a little celebration lol. Called some bitches up, they come over.We played some beer pong with glasses cuz i couldnt find his plastic cups. Me and friends hooked up with some chicks. Waited for them to go to sleep, then hit up waffle house. It was a pretty good night.

Just got back from a Night Op, it was mainly recon. Basically, I was locating the PIR sensors, disabling the sensor lights and just a general look around. I found the way I'm going to get into this building (window, it literally popped open), and I know where the alarms are, and there aren't even ones in the specific room I'm going to get in. All I did for the sensor lights was switched the little dial to Day, so they come on in the day instead of the night. I also found hundreds of foam tubes and other pool toys, but they aren't useful or valuable or anything, I just thought I'd mention them :D

But I'm not actually going to break in there or anything.

Definitely. I'm 20 and usually night op as a form of reconnaissance for...other various activities. I haven't posted many stories on here or &T but a typical night out for me involves scouting out a spot, entry points, alarm systems, taking pictures of cameras, etc. Then I go back home and plan the rest of my activities from there. If its a plausible target, I move forward. If not, I move on.

I'd love to have a forum where the more mature members of the community can discuss not only night ops, but other subjects as well. Carding, heists, various scams, etc.

It depends on your definition of the word night op. The main point is that you're doing an 'operation' at night. I don't think it really matters what that operation is.

If I don't have anything specific in mind, I bring:

Screwdriver (Both - and + ones).
About 50 different attachments for the screwdriver, so I have a ton of different types. This is surprisingly light, and very handy.
A torch with red cellophane over it.
A normal torch (both torches are about 15cm long, lightweight and produce just enough light)
A crowbar or hammer.

All this can fit in a casual bag, so it's not going to look suspicious unless someone looks in your bag.

Multitool

Lock Pick Set
Flathead
Mini flashlight (hate to use light..try and improve your night vision)

Scanner (dialed into police frequencies)
Small black backpack (after I do recon...if I really want anything)

If you know how to pick you really don't need a crowbar, or to be forceful. Night-ops to me is about going and being somewhere unnoticed. If you use force to break into a building or break a window what skill does that take? None...at all.

MIT guide to lock picking, I picked up a lock, and had someone remove a few pins from it, so I could practice.

I case my street twice a week in my ghili suit lol running up and down our street, it is in a more rural area so alot of bigger yards / alot of trees to survey from. Explain?

Also, how did you get into lock picking and what do you use to practice on?
(directed to anyone)

The red cellophane helps a lot; It's quicker for your eyes to adjust both to the light and the darkness once you switch it off, and the dark red light generally attracts far less attention.

And to the person a few posts above me; Stop using the term SWIM. It's fucking retarded.

MIT guide to lock picking, I picked up a lock, and had someone remove a few pins from it, so I could practice.

CrashWangDoodle, If you look on page 3, you see I was asking about taping a window to break it, it makes the glass break off into large sections.

Yeah thanks, I only noticed your question until right now when I was looking for answers to my post. Alrighty thank you.

But about car alarms, i know some will go off if you even rock the car, but do you think breaking glass would set it off?

What do you guys use to carry around your equipment on an op? I've only been out a couple of times and I used a messenger bag. Seems a backpack would be too big.

My set-up, for a night op, is to be seen but not noticed.

I wear a thin red addidas fleece with a black t-shirt under. Then black sweats and a dark blue shorts. I have a dark blue beenie on. I wear a string backpack between the sweatshirt and t shirt. Then I can slip items into the backpack(and tie the extra string around my waist when heavy) , have them concealed, and still run fast. I then have some nike shox's to run in (although I should be a bottom soled running shoe because its easily to roll your ankle running blindly thru a yard, in shoxs). I "jog" and walk around, the clothes under so I can ditch the clothes in a worst case scenario. Then I just check cars and keep walking. No hiding or scoping it out, I am in a rick white neighborhood.

Nice, there is no red light naturally at night, so you seem to be wearing black.

Exactly, but when a car comes, I jsut act like I am jogging and don't look suspicious in all black.

Nice idea with the backpack between clothes. I recently went out for my first op this weekend and got scared to death. I was just about to leave the house through the back door, and all of the sudden I hear a door and footsteps coming down the stairs. So I quietly hide and wait for them. Turns out it was my dog :p, I was about to kill him.

Smooth.. I remember my first op. I was scared shitless, but you can use that to your advantage. Your senses get a hell of a lot more aware. Listen to every sound. As tempting as it is to walk in the moonlight, stay in the dark. Hell, if you want to, just go for a night time walk (sneaking out your window/back door, whatever), until you get really comfortable with being out in the middle of the night.

reading this shits making me wanna go out again though

when i go out, i throw on all black clothes. if no one sees you, it doesn't matter what you're wearing, right? i hop outta the way if ANYTHING is coming my way, so there is no one to say i look suspicious. if someone sees me, i saw them and am on my way out of there.
most crucial gear is my fucking shoes. black nike high tops. years old, so they're very worn in, and they're SILENT.
i'll probably post soon with something i did, because just talking about it gives me a fucking hard on.

Dude. SWIM love doing that to those little "Bad Asses" dressed in all black underarmor, and according to SWIM It's fun as hell to hold them up or put them in a chokehold from behind, SWIM seems to do that a lot.

I asked my mum if i could go out for a night op. She was reluctant at first but she said since i got a good report card i could stay up until 9:00!!!! She packed me a sandwich to eat when i got hungry and luckily she didn't see the butter knife i hid in my pack (in case a stranger approaches me). I saw this suspicious guy walking his dog so i decided to follow him around the block. I was really quiet like a ninja until my mum rang to let me know naruto was on.

Upon entering the construction site SWIM went into one of the rooms of the building and set off a motion detector. SWIM and co ran out of their as fast as they good.

Good thing SWIM and co hid their faces from all cameras that they passed by.

I'm going to resurrect this thread with a story. I got a creative writing assignment to write a memoir or something interesting that happened in my life, so I was like hey, I'll just write about my epic night ops adventure last summer!

So I went to the night ops forum and found my post after it happened, and I'm gonna repost it here :D

Anyway, this is the story I'm rewriting for my class hehe. My teacher is gonna be like

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
lol story....

I have only recently discovered night ops, yet I’ve already done some pretty crazy shit. This is the story of the adventure my friend and I had only last week on a night op that went very differently than originally intended. Anyway, my friend, we'll call him Nigel, and I decided to go on a night op one Friday night because we were pretty bored. It was 2 am, and my mom still hadn't gone to sleep because she was still doing laundry. Nigel was already out, and had been out for a while. I texted him on my cell phone and we concluded that we would meet near the local market square. My mom was still up, but this did not impede my escape. I set up some music on my computer to play on low volume, made it look like I was sleeping, and quickly got my night ops gear on. My clothes consisted of my faded camo pants (heavy material), UnderArmour tight t-shirt, and baggy grey hoody. On my feet I wore my wrestling shoes, which seemed excellent for climbing and moving silently, and also have very good grip and are excellent for running. I took with me my two pocketknives, one hunting knife and one swiss army knife, two screwdrivers, one phillips head and one flat head, and an adjustable wrench. Oh yeah... and I also took my flashlight.

I made my escape even though my mom was still awake. I was upstairs, so I carefully snuck into the room down the hall and climbed out the window onto our screen porch roof. I made my way to the edge of the roof and dropped off. I made a silent and soft landing, and was impressed by the performance of the shoes. This was the first time I had worn them outside and also the first time I had worn them on a night op. I dashed my way to the end of my driveway and called Nigel. He said he would meet me somewhere near the market square in our town. I walked down my quiet residential road and across someone's yard until I was in the field next to the local old folks home. I dashed my way across the field and ducked behind some very tall grass and weeds across from the main road. There were way too many cars out that night! Of course though, because it was a Friday night (technically Saturday morning). I made my way across the main road and into someone's back yard easily enough without being spotted. I stuck to the shadows, and worked my way through back yards until I came to an awkward position. I walked for a while on the main road and ducked behind fences and bushes as cars went by, and then dashed through some people's back yards until I came to the edge of Market Square. I again called Nigel and he seemed aggrivated that I was calling. He was behind the main plaza in Market Square and I was to meet him there.

I made my way behind one of the side plazas and snuck around to the back. I had no idea how to get where Nigel was without moving directly into the street light. I decided to go back into people's yards and take back roads around. I eventually just got frustrated and ended up back where I was. I said "fuck it" and quickly dashed across the street to where Nigel was. He was annoyed at how long I had taken, but happy nonetheless. He was wearing a dark hoody, shorts, and Sperries. He held up a "Vector Security" sign he had taken from someone's yard for the heck of it. He thought it was funny. Anyway, we had decided to check out the dumpsters behind the plaza to see if we could find anything interesting. We didn't find anything cool unfortunately. After checking out the dumpsters and the overall area, we eneded up venturing through the nearby neighborhood in the direction of the local elementary school.

We made our way through countless backyards and a field or two, and we were eventually at the campus of the school. We decided to hop the playground fence and go exploring. We ran up the playground stairs and made our way to the parking lot. We didn't know what kind of security the school had but we figured it wouldn't be too intense. We didn't think we would trip any alarms or anything by just being outside. We hugged the shadows of the side of the building and found the two dumpsters of the school. We checked to see if there was anything cool in the dumpsters but there wasn't. We didn't want to risk venturing inside the building as there was sure to be heavy security in there, so we stuck to outdoor exploring. We noticed a plaque on the side of the dumpster with a steel logo and the name of a local steel company. I thought it might make a nice souvenir so we pried it off with a screwdriver and a knife. I slipped it into my pants cargo pocket and we decided to take off.

From here we ventured into the local rich-people suburban area where Nigel decided to take ADT and Vector security signs. We walked around for a bit and just explored, then we went back to the elementary school campus. We explored the campus for a while when it happened. We saw a pair of headlights. We decided it very odd that a car would be traveling into the parking lot of an elementary school at 3 am. We hugged the shadows and carefully watched the car. It looked like it was going to pass so I decided to take a piss on the side of the building. Just as I finished pissing, the car turned the corner to the side of the building we were on! We instantly went prone to the ground, and I hadn't even fully zipped up my pants! The car went by abnormally slowly, and then out of the side of the window came a bright searchlight! Holy shit. Cops. It hit me just like that. The car was a disguised patrol car. The car drove by very slowly as its blinding searchlight scoped the area. The car began to slow down and the light was trained directly on our silhouettes. It seemed like the cop in the car was trying to discern whether or not he was seeing human silhouettes pasted on the ground. After about ten seconds later, I simply said, "Nigel! BOLT!" I got up and fucking sprinted. I had never run so fast ever. I hit the car by surprise and I heard tires squeal as it turned around. I heard the engine roar as the cops floored it after me. I felt the headlights on my back and a doubled my speed. I ran up a hill straight into thorn bushes. I clawed my way through until I hit trees. I vaulted over fallen logs and fell serveral times. I kept clawing my way through until I tumbled down a hill and landed in a back yard.

I instantly got up and sprinted through back yards. I blazed a jagged and zig-zagging trail to a random residential development and hopped through back yards and over fences. I just kept running. Eventually I made my way to some sort of plaza, but I went behind it and crawled under windows before I dashed across another field into another development. This repeated itself several times until I found myself in a familiar area. This was the same development behind the market square. I got a call from a "withheld number" on my cell phone, which freaked me out. I decided not to answer. I wormed my way through back yards until I got to a development closer to my house. I dashed my way across the main road until I was in the familar field next to the old folks home. I had to sprawl and go prone a few times due to headlights from cars on the main road. I did not want to risk anything. My phone rang again. I didn't answer. I ran through a back yard until I was on a familar street near my house. I walked up my street when my phone rang again. I picked it up this time. "Hello?" It was Nigel. He was back at his house and safe. He hid his phone number earlier afraid that I had been captured. I didn't answer due to the same reason. I told him I was safe and okay, and was just entering my house. I hung up, and climbed back onto my roof. I slipped in through the window and went back into my room. A metal song was playing on my stereo that made me realize what I had just done. I was alive, and had evaded capture and arrest. I took the metal plaque out of my pocket and studied it. I felt like a god. Then I tore off my sweaty and grass stained clothes, cleaned up my face, and collapsed on my bed.

I assume we tripped a silent alarm or something. We also were making a lot of noise near the dumpsters when I pried that thing off, so its possible some janitor was working night shift and heard us.

We weren't very smart to go back there in the first place... but I think they had motion sensors close to the building, looking back now.

So yeah... stay away from schools unless you're gonna get in and out quickly.

I just had a semi-cool idea.

In my street, there's a small power station thing. If I could turn off the power there somehow, I presume I could cause a small blackout. It would be sort of funny, knowing I caused it.

It's a big brick building, and has massive metal gates with barbed wire on top, so it would be hella hard to get on the premises, let alone get into the building. Plus I don't know much about electricity.

I probably won't try anything with it.

This sounds similar to something near my place. It's a substation for the suburb I live in. There's barbed wire covering all metal fences, with towering brick walls, too smooth and tall to climb. However, in one part they have some decorated bricks, that could probably be climbed. Once I get in, I think there's another big metal gate, but I'm not entirely sure whether it's locked. I guess I'll have to climb over at some point to see, I'll post the result when I eventually do it.

There's this church by my friend's house with a big steeple that plays bells, but it's through speakers so I plan on splicing those big ass speakers off of whatever plays the bells to a prepaid phone's mic. Then I'd set the phone to auto answer and call it with a blocked number and talk to my towns people, lol. Anyway while scouting the church out, we didn't want to call it quits for the night, so my friend took a shit in a bag, like a nasty semi-diarrea one and we were gonna find something to do with it. We see this house with a big party inside so we sneak up the back way and lever the screen door open, he knocks on the back door, and pegs the dude in the chest/face with a bag of shit and we haul ass! Lol this dude was pissed and he probably would have beaten the shit out of us, lol. Yea not a very good night-op...more of a prank. Although the rush of having someone almost catching you was a nice change, lol.

Its smarter, easier and less of a hassle during the day. At night if you see someone walking around near 3 am then cops may question you but if they see you walking around near 10 am on a work day when no one is home they may think you live at the house you are breaking into.

Day time is always better unless you know there is no alarm and the residents are out of town. Even then there are other hassles that have to be addressed.

Jesus fucking christ your post was difficult to decipher.

Anyway, most people go in the daytime for multiple reasons.. People are out at work, people aren't nearly as suspicious in the middle of the day etc..

The only time I go at night is if I'm going for a business or school. Unless you go on the weekend, but there are a lot of people who 'cut through' schools, or bring their kids to the playground.

It's not the grammar, it's the... Gah, I don't even think there's a word for it. You didn't form your sentence coherently. Anyway.

If I do get caught in the daytime, there's a few options..

1. Act like it's yours.. or you're supposed to be there.
2. Do some 'acting', as if you were just looking closely at something (if suitable), and then walk off inconspicuously.
3. Run like a nigger.

to me that's the best time to do work. Nobody will be roaming around( nobody walking a dog or going for a run.) the streets are basicly yours. Sync yourself with the thunder when breaking a window. Visibility gets even worse. With the power being out you'll be able to see where a persons at in a house cause they'll be carrying a flashlight.

If I do get caught in the daytime, there's a few options..

1. Act like it's yours.. or you're supposed to be there.
2. Do some 'acting', as if you were just looking closely at something (if suitable), and then walk off inconspicuously.
3. Run like a nigger.

1. if the police catch you then if they have been called they will not be fooled

2. common sense?

3. and hide where? your fucked, end of,

1. If you act like it's yours, then how will the cops or the people who called the cops know any different? It's not like everyone examines everything that someone else owns.

2. Geez, you sure are smart. Of course it's common sense, but then again, look where you are. This place isn't exactly the definition of common sense.

3. Who said shit about hiding, most people won't pursue someone, especially if they haven't committed any crimes yet. And even then, if you are doing any sort of ops, your body will be at peak condition whereas theirs generally won't be, unless you get the rare super-health-food-body-builder type. And even then, generally you [Being the one with the knowledge about this field] will be able to evade and out-maneuver anyone.

1. neightbourhoodly area like everyone knows everyone residential areas where old people or housewives live are especialy bad for this.

2. good point

3. the cops in england will chase you to the ends of the earth in all likelyhood with the help of a several million pound hellicopter equiped with a thermal imaging camera.
peak physical condition? i guess its a good idea, i happen to be the kind of person who cant grwo muscle although after a few weeks of doing pressups one at a time (all i can manage) i eventualy managed to do 3 at a time and now my avadge is 2 am i the most unfit person there is >insert sarcastic mocking smiley<
btw if you are in a rich or posh area this is true but chavy or ghetto areas people are generaly fit enought to run from cops/other hood homie haderz/ beat the fuck out of eachothers hood homies haderz and remember the lower the class the less you wanna get caught, if a posh person sees you in their house they will probly scream and run or lock themselves in a cupboard or something if a working class person sees you they will beat the fuck out of you.

Again, local people know the surrounding areas quite well, and will be able to predict where you're going/have a mental map of it, so they may still be able to catch you .. And it would be local people who'd try to stop you generally.

hey guys i know you guys are all always talking about your character book writing shit but could you guys tell me if this one is a bit far fetched:
so theres this housing block near me, a real classy one which i used to play in, then one time i went up and looked in a cupboard and all the electric shit was in it and the phone wires were all pluggd in and exposed, and knowing a basic amount about stuff like that i m sure i can strip the wires and connect a phone to it and listen to peoples phone calls, not sure how i would get round the picking up thing (when one person picks up it stops ringing), also there was a window going out onto a roof which i pulled the lock off and went out, it was one of the best veiws ever and would have made a great pellet gun sniping spot but me being me mistakenly thinking nobody would give a fuck/not notice dident screw the window lock back on so now it has a like grate accros it man i feel so dumb sometimes

As far as the phone, set up a recorder and record the conversation and listen to it whenever. Don't really understand why you'd wanna listen to someones boring ass convo anyway unless they're drug dealers or a prostitute ring. Seems pointless to waste the time.

I know a old guy who has 4 gallon jugs of change in his back floor board. Nothing but silver change mostly quarters. He also has gold rings and necklaces in his dash compartment.

I've been able to get one of his jugs of change it was a big coffee container that was 3/4 full and I got $170 at the coin machine.

Damnit I wish I could get into this car, but I would be a major suspect if the window were to get smashed.

BTW, the projector was bolted to it's stand bolted to a 2x10 rafter......man.....i was basically doing chinups on the bastard for 5 minutes trying to break it. Best feeling in the world, even though i almost fell off the table i was standing on :P

But if you ever see on which has like a metal fram holding it to the roof, use a hacksaw. 30 seconds and it'll come off. So, for a $1200 projector, we said it was gonna take about 5 minutes. Guess how long it took? 3 fucking hours. We had to take the door off, luckily it opened outwards. Then as my mate went to wait for me in some bushes, i went in and grabbed it. Simple as that.

Few words of advice;

1. Be FAST. The second that alarm trips, you have 60 seconds to GTFO, or maybe 2-3 minutes before security arrives(maybe push it to 4-5 in the early morning, just before sun rise)
2. Know your target. Take only the tools you will need. But, things to always take are 2x flathead screwdrivers, a multitool(good for untangling chainling fences), a small torch(a push button is safer***like one that goes out if u let go of it***, if you drop it it goes out, but a small twist on is good like a mini maglite.
3. Dress appropriately. In winter, wear all white or snow camo or something that suits your environment(im trying to write for americans aswell, so white is applicable if it snows). In all other circumstances, solid black. Pants should be strong and have deep pockets(the deeper the better, there so many small things you will need to carry/grab) Wear a balaclava/ski mask/something to hide your face. Theres CCTV everywhere, you dont wanna make the mistake of getting seen.
4. Take a small backpack. Good for carrying shit. When you enter a building, grab onto it firmly and open one half of it. If you find something you want, bag it asap. Dont think "oh, i might find something later/better". Theres no time for that.
5. Dont think too hard. Thinking takes time and thinking will get you caught. Everything should be planned before you go, it will save your ass, and if you do it right, you can execute it flawlessly and everything will go to plan. Do training missions to keep your skill sharp/test new skills. Dont test new skills on jobs.

Im sure theres more, but w.e. Go out and have fun, remember, dont use my info for illegal purposes/do so at your own risk/w.e.

Also, travel light. Makes it alot easier to do it.

Wrong. Solid black at night is not that unnoticeable. Best would be to wear dark ( really dark ) blue or green clothes.

ive seen clothes that are sortof black white and gneraly lights and dark cubism style which look more or less normal unlike wearing green and brown lol and basicaly imagine a t shirt with grey and black and dark blue squares overlaping eachother the squares are about 3 to 6 inches wide and so you sortof fit in with the lines i l try and find a pic i saw one of a gun a while back

Perhaps you're thinking of urban MARPAT? That's been a pattern I've worn for years now with good success.

Of course, camo is completely worthless if you're the uncoordinated fellow who can't sneak or hide worth a shit and you expect to be seen. In that case, you're better off just wearing some jeans, a hoodie, and forgetting all about the night ops approach for awhile.

Clothes that blend in is at once complex and super simple. Simple in the fact that really anything can work if you move around in it correctly, but complex in the fact that so many factors go into optimal hiding ability which you won't get wearing basic black.

But what would I know?

although thinking about it it does make sense i cant realy explain why but basicaly i think night vision gogles take in light and somehow magnify it to make more light so if there s too much light......
i m sure there is someway around it though.

What retarded cunt would ever believe something like that? That's a recording played back by something unable to transmit a laser beam.

except i read his other mod on a disposable camcorder, which got taken down for some reason, and through if you got one of these http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii184/darkguardian87/GasMask.jpg?t=1241157637

and drilled a bunch of holes in the plastic glass sheet thing andwired the leds through then mounted the camera lens in it so it pointed through the hole then stuck a screen in it you would look cool as fuck, although i doubt you would fit it all in, a motorbike helmet would be more realistic, meh i l never have the time or be able to find cool looking gas masks

I AM working on a better guide than that. It's been about 5 years since I first started working on Way of the Shadow, and I'll be the first to admit there are some inaccuracies and inferior techniques. Just the ignore the alarm section in that one until I get the new one up, yeah? Probably obvious news, but still.

If someone knows of a decent PDF making program I'm all ears. At the moment I'm stuck using Adobe Designer 7, and it's got some serious issues sorting out it's spacing and keeping the fonts I use. Eliminating the annoyance factor would speed things along. I haven't made a PDF file since the middle of high school so... that doesn't help either.

Equinox,
I get the internet version of A.D.D. where I lose interest in websites randomly. Thus the reason for the absence as well as why I'd make a shit moderator.

For what it's worth on the night vision deal, I think at worst it'd be a hazard similar to looking at the sun or too bright of a light. Not immediately harmful but with the potential to cause vision impairment over time, possibly cataracts. If it's an intensifier tube/phosphorus screen system it washes out from electron overflow, effectively ruining the equipment. In short, keeping expensive (/overpriced) equipment functional is a bigger concern than your health is in this case.

some garages and houses have wood paneling like on sheds (http://hightownsurplus.co.uk/shop/images/gift_certificates/WoodShedApex.jpg) prize it off and step in and take what you want or you can normaly open garage doors by reaching in and pulling the string which will be directly above the lock onthe kind of garage doors that fold up wards

It's more of a personal preference that went into the guide, another reason for me to not like it so much. The upcoming one is much more objective and weighs the pros and cons of different things more thoroughly. You'll also be glad to know I've made the gear information much less redundant and in general more useful.
I still don't carry night vision around hardly, but it's got it's uses I'll concede. You'll never catch me personally with more than a compact monocular for peering into dark areas, though.

In night ops I would say that yes, a well-forged screwdriver is ideal based solely on the fact it's more compact. Ideally, you'd want 4th Gen night vision goggles, a massive wrecking bar if you wanted to use brute force, all the goodies you can pack but therein lies the obvious problem - you can't carry that much and sneak around effectively. It's a matter of squeezing the most performance out of as small of items as you can carry. You lose performance but you gain mobility, and mobility is the most important thing (one man's opinion here) because with that comes stealth - an asset needed to reach the location to use your tools in the first place. You find the best compromise between the two based on your skills you've got, consider if you're confident in what you've got, and you head out. Obviously if you can pick a lock, forget the screwdriver and carry those instead - less room taken up, less evidence, and less noise you're going to make.

TL/DR: Those picks were made in the interest of stealth and mobility.

I wouldn't know how often you've used the "night ops approach" so if I'm preaching to the choir here I apologize. Some people argue that those are dumb to carry and you shouldn't carry anything considered burglary tools. The way I see it though, if you're worried about being seen and preparing for it, you're in the wrong hobby. :/

i always loved your aproach to night ops the way if you went into someones house and then decided the only thing worth taking was a mobile when you walked out again they would just think they misplaced it, cus of the way you leave no evidence, and if you hear the cops just jump out the window and keep walking they cant do shit, theres no evidence of wrong doing.
And here am I, still waiting for op ideas. This summer, I'll be even more advantaged, as I'll hopefully have a car and all, so I can drive out to sites to explore (but if I'm doing the standard vandalism or stealing, I'd have to go on foot anyway).

lol tell me about it, these days the only places which you know have enough to be worth your time and fucking covered in alarms, i mean siriously you jump the fence and they already know your there you get in the building the cops are on their way.

b&e has never been my thing, i mean unscrewing prizing etc is ok but making noise is a no no, if you break something it just changes the type of op your not sneaking around in and out your now running around and going through anything in your way type of thing.

Multitool
Knife
Lock Pick Set
Flathead
Mini flashlight (hate to use light..try and improve your night vision)
Compass
Scanner (dialed into police frequencies)
Small black backpack (after I do recon...if I really want anything)

If you know how to pick you really don't need a crowbar, or to be forceful. Night-ops to me is about going and being somewhere unnoticed. If you use force to break into a building or break a window what skill does that take? None...at all.

I think you got the idea, I keep it light, backpack with a few essentials and room to put stuff if I see it. Easy to ditch all at once.

is it a good idea to place the backback full close to the site and then pick it up do operation then ditch it 30 metres up the street in a large bush or something?
its what i ve always done, plus running and hiding if you ever see anything.
and where do you get a police scanner?

'Police scanners' can be had from just about any HAM radio shop. Just go in and buy a communications reciever and google the appropriate frequencies.

One point to note though - a scanner might not do you any good, for example, i'm a brit. Our police use this new radio system called TETRA which is encrypted and rather fancy - scanners are useless here because all you'll hear is white noise. YMMV.

On the subject of police scanners, here in NZ there are 2 different frequencies - One, you can tune into, and it's from the communications centre, and that dispatches all the jobs to all the police cars. But the other is car-to-car radios, and you can't tune into that, I can't remember why. I know all this because my sister is a cop, and she doesn't remember anything when she's drunk, so I just ask her then. Btw, all cops here keep a gun underneath the front seat in their cars.

I have a police radio. Its kinda old but it works surprisingly well. On newer radios you can just scan for frequencies. I have an older one and you need to type the right frequency in. All i did was google for 5 minutes and i found an entire list of frequencies for my city.

I picked mine up at an antique store. (they have a bunch of random crap everywhere) Check out garage sales and flea markets and you might be able to find one cheap.

3. the cops in england will chase you to the ends of the earth in all likelyhood with the help of a several million pound hellicopter equiped with a thermal imaging camera.

Police normally respond by sending out tons of cars at night. When you really need to do some fence hopping
They send out heli's for if you are hiding in wilderness or fields

tl;dr, if you hear a police car, hide in peoples back gardens, and dont run into wilderness

My parents alarm the house at night, I was all pumped up and ready to go for later in the night. Then I heard my dad set the alarm for the night and it is a loud and distinguishable beep, and realized that it would never work. This weekend I might try going out a side window and taking out the screen.

Ok, I have a few.
A friend and swIm (who I will refer to as "I" from here on out) broke into the local public library at 3 am, through a window. After searching around for a while, we got paranoid, and decided to quit, not having found anything worthwhile. Right as we were getting ready to climb back out the window, I spotted, in-the-box, brand spankin new, a Panasonic PV-GS400 video camera. (originally retailed for about $1300, can be bought on ebay for $350 today). Nabbed it, took off.

On a cabbage night (night before halloween, where you go throw eggs at shit, if any don't know) the same friend and "I," and two others, decided to get a little revenge on my old boss. I had worked for him in construction for a little over a month, and he was a real dickwad. Making it worse, he had a hot daughter I wanted to get with, and he definitely impeded any progress there. We threw 3 dozen eggs at his house at around midnight. Continuing our cabbage night fun, we stole two pumpkins, and returned to the same house around 2:30 am, throwing one pumpkin through his pickup-truck front window, and the other through his house window next to the front door. Bitch. Call me lazy one more time.

Another time, (though this one was not technically a 'night op,' being during the day) we were driving on a road in the area which goes by a fairly popular swimming hole. Being not quite full summer yet, not many people were hot enough to go swimming. There was one car parked in the lot, and we could see the people down below, swimming in the river (about 100 ft from the parking lot, a fairly steep trail. Too far to see their faces). The car window on the passenger side had been left half open, though the doors were locked. I had my friend stop the car, I ran up to the lone car, reached through the window and opened the door. The alarm went off. I saw the people down by the river all looking up at the car, shielding their eyes from the sun with their hands, and I hurried. Scored a 120GB ipod classic and a GPS system. Jumped back in my friends car and we took off, out of sight before they could reach the top of the hill. Score.

Another interesting experience, too long to go into great detail, but definitely a night op--A train came off the rails and spilled fuel in the middle of my town (a small college town, in a rural area). The area of the incident was taped off with police tape, three buildings were evacuated because the fumes were too dangerous, and the cleanup crews were working around the clock to deal with the spill. Being stupid, curious teenagers, we wanted a closer look, but the three roads which could lead to the sight were manned by one police car per road, and taped off with police caution tape. We took a roundabout route to approach from the other side, which was wooded. When we got close enough to get a good look, we found not much of interest, and we were about to leave when a cop heard us and shined his light on us. This was the closest to getting caught either of us have ever been. We started running, and he took chase, shouting "stop, police!" We didn't stop, he didn't catch us, but our car was five or six blocks away, so after we were clear of him, we stripped off our sweatshirts, and seperated for the walk to the car. We saw a cop car drive past us three times during the five blocks, and he shined a light on my friend, but passed him by. Close call.

We've scored several ipods, 5 or 6 gps systems, and two digital cameras from car-shopping sprees. Also once discovered a tractor trailer-type trailer parked in an empty lot, and cut the padlock, finding it full of storage stuff, like somebody was moving and stuck all their stuff there temporarily. Scored nothing of value--a fan, a box of cds, and a cheap radio.

Also plenty of pointless vandalism, smashing things, breaking car windows, etc.

And once we went together on a vacation, with my family. We were in a small seaside retirement-type town, and we wreaked havoc for a week. This town was not like my hometown, which is rural and very lightly policed. This place was swarming with cops. We got picked up and brought home for being out after curfew three times in the one week, but they didn't catch us actually doing anything wrong besides being out past curfew. We carshopped, I stole a bag off a motorcycle, which had a sweatshirt, gloves, goggles, and a facemask (very useful for future night ops!), we kicked mirrors off of cars, drank ourselves stupid, jumped fences, ran from cops several times (though never as closely as that first time), and in the most nerve-racking, for me, we were snooping through a car parked in front of a house, when the owner of that car came out on the porch and started yelling at us, saying "get the fuck outta my car!!! I'm calling the cops right now, motherfucker! they're on the way!"... this scared the shit outta me, and we were both pretty drunk, so we took off running.

Other more harmless but still night-ops stuff we engage in is finding rooftops which are accessible. It's amazing how many there are ways to get on to, and it's great fun to climb on a roof at 2 am, just for the fuck of it.

Anyway, believe it or don't, i don't care, but I wouldn't take the time to make all this stuff up off the top of my head, and I've got nothing to prove to people I've never met. I just thought I'd add to the pool of interesting night-ops.

If you wanted to listen in on police radio in London, i'm afraid you're out of luck. The entire UK police (and most other emergency services) are using TETRA.

As soon as my heavier winter clothes arrive to my apartment (I'm in college) I'll be going on a lot of night-ops around the college to "build up my stamina" and see what I can do.

A backpack with chest clips or whatever to hold it on you work great. You can run just as fast with a decent load without holding onto your backpack.

Do you have to do it so forcefully, have you considered thinking of your plan, you could be considered for grand theft auto, robbery. Do you know how to pick car locks (hard)? Do you have to do cars why not go into people's garage's.

if you can get into a junkyard, and they are lax/don't give a fuck to keep a eye on you (assuming your not young, the way you type and the shit you want to do you certainly seem like a stupid teenager lol pranks tipping cans  ) practice on vehicles there. practice on prying the car doors open quickly with crow bars, using screw drivers (straight blade) and a hammer to pop trunk locks fast and open it up, etc. Use it as a testing ground to hone your skills, but something tells me you are probably better off at a home depot in the garbage can aisle practicing tipping those! go go go!

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

so its Thursday planning out my scheme . got an idea to do a little fuck fuck joke at my school i used to go to.

OPs : 1 me
items : glue sticks, liquefied chewing gum , and a small pumpkin carving tool.
clothes : black : pants , beanie , long sleeve shirt , black running shoes.

its was thurday night, home alone, ready to go out ( 3:00 AM) and do my first night op. i leave my house through the front door cause no ones home as usual. walk my ass to the school with my items which is about 8 - 10 blocks from my home.

i get there scope it out for awhile : 15min. there's not much streetlamps around so i blend in with the darkness easily . made my way to my planned route starting at the side of the school. i take the gum and use the carving tool to jam gum inside the locks then i glue the key hole. i do that around the whole school ... outside not inside , so it 'll prevent anyone from entering the school in any gate , in any side of the school. i get to the front of the school where obviously its well lighten i got super paranoid sat at a dark spot for a while scared that someone might come out like a cop . i see the cops roll by from the street , they can't see me cuz i'm in the dark ass spot . they dont stop they were driving by like any other person. i go to the front entrance quickly jam up all the locks on the door glue the key holes then i really got super paraniod after i finished and started running for no reason just because i made myself super paranoid .

i go home . sleep . my alarm wakes me up and i walk to school i see all these highschoolers in their skanky costumes and what ever and they cant get in the school . they're tripping about it . i wasted their time they got dressed up for nothing and came to school from nothing.

i was recorded the news to see if my thing got on the news while i was away but nothing.
today i bought the newspaper but nothing. imma watch the news later on and see if it comes up .:p:D:)

Money isnt everything man.... they say the best things in life are free right? and thats mostly true.

The reason people have hobbies/interests is because it gives them a certain level of pleasure and satisfaction. Night ops is just one of those hobbies/interests, just like anything else could be.

one time went down some land, there was loads of old cars, buses, kinda like a scrapyard, but obviously personally owned as it was down this realy steep long track.
me and a friend where far away from anywhere, and the caravans, cars, buses, everything was unlocked,
Managed to score a shed load of stuff, my mate got some metal from windscreen wipers for tension wrenches for lock picking, he also found a crowbar and some awesome boots worth £180.
I personally obtained a massive jar of pipe tobbaco, and although i never sold it, it was probably worth over £300.
one of the greenhouses was filled with chickens bizarely, that made us a bit anxious as to start we didnt know what it was.
on our way back (long walk) we where stopped by the police, but nothing ever happened, they just pulled up and wondered why we where out so late.
we just said we where coming back from a party and carried on.
was a good op, and although we had planned it to perfection.
it was not really that hard to pull off.
still, easy money, is easy money.
Planning another night op for weeks now, we have been watching and taking notes on a house that is back to some woods.
