Many of my songs are in G major. I like playing melodic rhythms around the seventh fret. It sounds very epic and cosmic when I play the melodic chords I discovered years ago. The solos my buddy plays with it are mind melting.

I also enjoy the harmonic Minor because of the Arabian sound (what is that thing called?), and the phrygian dominant is always fun.

What scales do you guys play the most often?

Aeolian is pretty sounding, and I find myself using it quite a bit.

All my arpeggios are diminished, a minor, or a diminished minor.

I'm surprised anyone likes listening to me at all, because everything I play is diminished.

The fuck are scales?

I just print out tabs of what I actually want to play, and learn to play it.

Musical progressions that sound amazing. You can't create too much music without scales.

Scales are the basics of all basics.
You should try them.

They can greatly improve your music, from basic muscle training to a better understanding of music.

C scale is always sounds very bleak & interesting, and you can do so much with it...not that you couldn't with the rest...just sayin'

Bb major on a cello is my favorite. Also A, E, and C minor pentatonic on a bass.

i like the mixolydian scale, as well as the phrygian and locrian for darker sounds.

Playing on scale modes around the melodic minor scale is fun too. Gives you a dark evil sound.

There's an actual middle-eastern scale in case you didn't know, I'll tab the pattern for you if you want but I suggest you get "the bass grimoire"
if you really want to learn scale patterns.
