Flash Powder Help [Archive]

I have recently come across some KCLO4 and Have Had Some Aluminum Powder For A While
The Problem Is I Cannot For The Life Of Me Ignite It
I Have Tried KNO3+Sugar Fuses And Torch Lighters
Any Help Greatly Appreciated

I tend to use a blowtorch to light small amounts of compositions. I wouldn't use a torch lighter, because it puts your fingers very close to the explosion. If the aluminum particles are big enough, the mixture might require a fair amount of time in the flame to melt the perchlorate and aluminum. How finely ground are your ingredients?

The chemicals you're using probably need powdering a bit more, ball mill separately

Pestle and mortar or 2l plastic bottle + anti-static spray + pebbles = foot powered ball mill.
