So recently i just maxed out my 120 gb ipod and now i want to take my music more seriously with getting some over the ear head phones. Plus i wana basically feel the music for when im high as a plane :D
Im trying to stay away from those trendy skull crusher headphones
so do you guys have any suggestions on high quality headphones with a $100 budget?

Sony and Sennheiser are both quality brands to consider. I suggest you look at these:

I've always gone with Sony for the huge fancy headphones. However I always seem to end up stepping on them... it's happened 3 times. Currently I use the premium headphones from Microsoft. They're ear cannal phones, rather than ear buds, so they're comfortable for hours on end PLUS (much like huge over the ear headphones) they're noise canceling :)
P.S. the cord is also a steel/fabric hybrid so it's EXTREMELY easy to untangle. we're talking seconds compared to minutes.
Have a look at some second hand Sennheisers or Grados on Ebay.
Also, wait for MunkyQ to post :p

Stay far far far away from all skullcandy headphones. I had lowriders and GIs. The left earpad ripped off in 3 weeks and the bass was terrible. And the lowriders were tinny.
I would advise seinheissers/sony, Koss seems quite good too
I have broken too many headphones. So, what i done is removed all the fancy stuff from my headphones and made them as simple as possible, with long or in some cases short cords and NO volume control.
OP, do whatever you like but make sure the cord is short or else your going to mess up the wires again.

I got a Koss combo that came with the ones that go over your ears and earbuds for like $15 over 2 years ago. Lost the earbuds but still have the big ones and they are still amazing. No ware as of yet and the sound is still there.

Depends on what kind of sound signature you like. All headphones seem to equalized different from each other so choosing the perfect pair is difficult.
Do you like a deeper bass sound or a more neutral detailed mids presence? The headphones covering your ears completely (circumaural) or just on top(supra aural)? Closed or open speakers?
Do some research on head-fi.org. These guys really know their stuff, however, I think they are a little crazy about their headphones. (who spends 1000s of dollars on just the headphones? Probably the same kind of people who end up buying the super high end boutique 1000 dollar headphone amplifiers too.)
Some models to get you started:
Grado SR-60/80 (I own the SR-80s)
Koss PortaPro
Sony MDR-CD780
PS: Don't blindly buy "reputable brands" like Sony, Sennheiser, AKG, Audio-Technica, or Koss. Make sure you get to demo them before you buy them. Everyone has different tastes in the sound they enjoy and quite frankly, those companies release a lot of crap headphones too! Happy hunting.

I agree, I had some 20-dollar Ink'd ones, and one ear cut out entirely after 3 months, the next week the other ear cut out.
