I have the opportunity to work and live in a hostel of my choice for the summer, worldwide. Are there any countries that are particularly interesting for living a hostel lifestyle?

No, I'd go work at one of the major hotels if I went back to Banff. I was up there last summer.

SE Asia has a huge backpacking scene and, as a result, hostels everywhere. Thailand especially. Moreover, it's a hell of a lot cheaper than anything you'll encounter in Europe. I've met some pretty cool people in the hostels I've stayed at in Vietnam, Laos, & Thailand.

This. Phnom Penh, or Saigon would be excellent. Or something on Khao San Road maybe, though if I was to live in Thailand I'd prefer to live much further south. Worked in a hostel in Nelson, NZ for three weeks last summer, it was nice but if I was to do it longer I'd rather it be in a much bigger city.

Lima would be tops, too.

How'd you get such a gig sorted? Sounds like a nice little plan.

I'd head into SE Asia if I were you...

I've heard lots of good things about the hostels in Thailand.

Revvy, I can't share how to take advantage of every opportunity I come across. I'll write something up on it after I make some decisions.
