I have computers and the xbox 360 connected wireless-ly to the same wireless modem but I can't seem to get the 360 to recognize the computers are connected, is there a way of sorting this problem?

I don't think it works thay way man.
I think you need a wireless router or something for that stuff. OR you could just use a ethernet cable (which should work better)

He's right. You can't just connect the Xbox to the computer just because they share the same wireless router. Run an Ethernet cable from the Xbox to the computer, and then you're in business.

Ethernet is probably the better option anyway - wireless internet seems to lag with online gaming for me (on consoles at least).

Are you trying to stream media from your computer to the xbox?

Yeah, thats what I'm trying.
I tried with an ethernet cable but couldn't seem to get the two to recognize each other. Any other tips?

Yes you can. I had mine set up so that it would share media in my wmp 11 library with my 360. There's a little more to it but I can't remember what it was.

Yeah, but I think OP's talking about a wireless access point, not a router.
Also, OP, try to put media sharing on over LAN (on your PC).

On a similar note, there is always a problem connecting the Xbox to my PC (I believe it's because it's a pirated version of Vista)

There's various programs to help you with this. The 360 won't just recognize the PC like magic, you need a program on the PC to stream it. Listed below are some you can use.
Windows Media Player 11 - http://fyad.org/xsid
Orb - http://fyad.org/xsif
TVersity - http://fyad.org/xsig

^^ well actually all I do is set my video folder to share and the xbox pick's it up instantly, however I also use TVersity for when I need to transcode video on the fly.
