View Full Version : people with 1000+ posts should get a button for this

well since mods suck at weeding out shit threads, users with 1000+ posts should see a button on every thread (or post) to flag it for mods. it wouldnt do anything to the thread, but every mod would have a "tank" that would receive a link to the thread so they can deal with it. if people abuse it they could get an infraction or have the feature taken away. i realize this would probably be pretty hard to implement, but i think it would make things easier for the mods.
since only people with 1000+ posts could use it, i think it has a low potential for abuse because not many people have that many posts. or if 1000 is not enough, make it more. people with that many posts must get on zoklet all the time and probably know the rules well enough to make the decision.
maybe when they press the button, it could take them to a form where they see a list of rules and can check off what rules they think the person is breaking. this would make it even harder to abuse because if they are flagging people for no reason, they will still have to check off a broken rule instead of leaving it open ended and giving them the benefit of the doubt that they actually thought a rule was being broken. if that makes since...(they wont have the benefit if the doubt).

Just because you've posted 1000 times doesn't mean you're a good poster, or even know all of the rules.
If a thread warrants moderator action, PM a moderator. It's not that hard.
im a perfect example of that, i am a quality poster when i try, but when i get bored and post something lulzy, thats when i get infracted, so yeah i got 7 infraction points at the moment, actually maybe 3, its december 6th
I'm exactly the same way but I manage to not get in trouble o.0

This idea is unessisary, and hinges on the assumption that 1000+ users are responcible enough for it. Just get more/better mods instead.

we used to have a "report this post" feature, but it was taken away due to abuse.
well not abuse per se, but because people would use it for the most mundane reason. Where it was only meant for serious cases (child porn, malicious links, illegal activities), it would often be used for things like trolling, and harrassment, something a mod of that forum could easily handle on their own, or even things that werent against the rules at all.

I think this is a great idea, and would give the mod a better idea of what the senior regulars want to be seeing in their favorite forums.
I like this idea. it could make a mods job easier, they could also find bad posts/threads they overlooked or didn't see for some reason. And if someone abuses them infract them the same way as if they broke another rule. IE joe doesnt like bill so he keeps flagging his posts to the mods, joe gets a warning and the next time he does stupid shit he gets the fucking banhammer.

I think it's a great idea but it definitely has some holes- there are members with a ton of posts who could use it to distract mods while they wreak havoc elsewhere lol... and I have over 1,000 posts and wouldn't abuse it, but that's a pretty low number imo

I could go either way. There still is no guarantee that a mod is going to do anything.
It could be tested in some forum at first, to see if it works or is effective.

I know this is a little off the opening posts, but I find that this same idea works well with feedback. The senior regular users know what should be what most of the time, so keeping an ear and an eye on their posts/PMs/votes/etc usually provides quite a bit of information for a mod when deciding where to go next with a particular decision or other.
I would support it if only members who have 2000+ post count and are old timers. Users trying to abuse this system should be punished as well.

basically, as DFG said, it's people who get into the VIP lounge and were on totse...? so I'm headed to a position where I'd be able to use the function by the time it was implemented maybe. either way, there are STILL people who could abuse it... but I suppose any regulatory measure could be abused just as much as it could help :hrmph:

Love the idea but as someone said people with 1000+ post don't make them good members. Maybe the kids could choose the responsible ones as sort of a mod mentorship where the 'min mod' has the flag for a real button. I'd explain in further detail but I still have to get the whole idea in my mind

Yep. Most... but certainly not all.. of the users with 1000+ posts are shitdropping assholes.

1000 posts can be achieved in a month just so you know.

With all due respect, many 1000+ posters aren't suitable for handling such privaleges.

Users with more posts tend to be worse posters, therefore this plan is shit.

Thanks might be a better way to decide who gets the button, i mean you cant get thanked in GS...
Or maybe you can ask for the button?
Actually getting off your ass (kinda...) and just telling a mod would probably be the best course of action anyway.

No. Take Blunderful, with around 500 thanks, he's one of the most retarded, useless posters on this site.

GOD DAMN. did you people read what i said? FUCK. i said in the post, if 1000 wasnt enough, to make it more. GOD FUCKING DAMN CAN YOU PEOPLE NOT READ THAT? i covered my ass by saying that because i figured 1000 might not be enough.
so get off this "1000 posts is to low" trip and discuss how to make it better.
