EDIT: The first one is paying respects to my grandfather. He loved to fish and loved his collection of Snoopy memorabilia. The 2nd one was just spur of the moment "hey I want another tattoo" type thing. I saw the design at a tattoo shop, I took the star and stripes design, made it into an American flag, and added the lightning bolt.

The Latin phrase was something out of my cross country days.

This was the first one I got the day I turned 18, it looks like your typical generic star tattoo, however it has meaning. Back when my friends and I were 13 we were really big into riding BMX. We grew up in Binghamton and idolized FBM so we had our own lil crew of six. Hence the 6 sided star... We had this as like our "gang" logo. still represent.

Its peeling really bad right now, which I guess I should have expected, so I'm sorta depressed about it.

Honestly... yeah. It hurt like a fucking bitch. But not the top part of my foot where he was shading, it was my toe, and my joint, and the shading he had to do on the webbing of my big toe. If it had just been on top of my foot, the pain would have been like a 4-5 on a 10 scale. With my toe, it was like an 8.

Are you shamelessly trying to defend Tinted Glass (a defence she's in no need of, really - I'm not hating. I'm criticising.), did you not review your apparent lack of thought before expressing it, or do you have a damn good explanation?

There are some redeeming qualities the design (few to the work, subjectively), which of course is that the 'feature' is very specific - and I think that particular symbol as explained by Tinted Glass is pretty cool - that it is possibly tailored to Tinted Glass's (I'd use her name here, if I knew it) personal or adopted ideaologies is (again), commendable, despite the somehwat irrelevant issue of the wings port & starboard appearing as derivative as RnB of (at the very least) the last decade.

On simplicity, as is consistent in the case of the whole piece, that's a yes and a no. From me, anyway. In the ink its quite boring considering it's reasonable surface area, and even though the couple issues mentioned are somewhat defendable by proclaiming "that's supposed to be its style" (that style, by the way, is one which tends to grow regret very quickly) the 'heart that is not just a heart' really should have been highlighted with a break or linear pattern and perhaps a bit more contrast in the shading. As for other areas of the piece, it could still have used more definition in the wings even though to a point that counterbalances their role in the piece, and their importance in. This could have been achieved with finer linework within and increased details, with softer shading.
The lack of gradience in the feather shading for me is a dislike, but its up to the artist. IMO It does look like there was either a lack of thought here as if it were all inked in one session, or that detail was consciously ommited for unknown reasons - unacceptable to me as explained, unless that reason is money. Some of this is 'fixable'.

I'd go into more detail, but I don't think anyone cares (and if they did they might be offended) - let alone the artist behind it.

My take: While Tinted Glass's idea behind it is pretty cool, its lacking aesthetically in design and moreso in execution (wrong word, but I'm dog tired). Its not exactly an amateur feat and is definitely passable, but not notable. But I am also very critical by nature, known to be obsessed with both aesthetic and symbolic detail, and unfortunately I strive for perfection.

Sorry for all the parenthesis! and fucke-brained-ness. I'm buggered out.

Yeah, I do have to agree on some points, but, it is supposed to be fairly simple, and it is exactly what I wanted. I'm going to end up with a sleeve on my arm, and that's really just the beginning.

The artist can't be blamed for this, because I controlled every aspect of the tattoo, and told him exactly how I wanted the shading and line work. I've been looking at it a bit, and some of the lines need thickened and darkened a little, but overall I'm happy with it.

Opinion is appreciated though :).

No I actually meant that literally. Part of its meaning is an expression of two sides of the same person, the feminine and the masculine. Dual nature. Its also an expression for bisexuality. SO, when I say its only a little gay I mean exactly that. If any of you have heard the old wise tale about the Scorpion and the Frog, its just a little reminder about people who you think will do bad, generally aka 99% of the time, will. This is my reminder. A good one too, its the same scorpion that my ex had tattooed on his shoulder, the biggest scorpion of all.
Probably stupid to get the same as him, but it serves a gental reminder, as well as being an incredibly cute little buddy to take around with me everywhere.

Did you just say a generic tatoo based on passively ambiguous symbology clearly states it's message?

Are you shamelessly trying to defend Tinted Glass (a defence she's in no need of, really - I'm not hating. I'm criticising.), did you not review your apparent lack of thought before expressing it, or do you have a damn good explanation?

There are some redeeming qualities the design (few to the work, subjectively), which of course is that the 'feature' is very specific - and I think that particular symbol as explained by Tinted Glass is pretty cool - that it is possibly tailored to Tinted Glass's (I'd use her name here, if I knew it) personal or adopted ideaologies is (again), commendable, despite the somehwat irrelevant issue of the wings port & starboard appearing as derivative as RnB of (at the very least) the last decade.

On simplicity, as is consistent in the case of the whole piece, that's a yes and a no. From me, anyway. In the ink its quite boring considering it's reasonable surface area, and even though the couple issues mentioned are somewhat defendable by proclaiming "that's supposed to be its style" (that style, by the way, is one which tends to grow regret very quickly) the 'heart that is not just a heart' really should have been highlighted with a break or linear pattern and perhaps a bit more contrast in the shading. As for other areas of the piece, it could still have used more definition in the wings even though to a point that counterbalances their role in the piece, and their importance in. This could have been achieved with finer linework within and increased details, with softer shading.
The lack of gradience in the feather shading for me is a dislike, but its up to the artist. IMO It does look like there was either a lack of thought here as if it were all inked in one session, or that detail was consciously ommited for unknown reasons - unacceptable to me as explained, unless that reason is money. Some of this is 'fixable'.

I'd go into more detail, but I don't think anyone cares (and if they did they might be offended) - let alone the artist behind it.

My take: While Tinted Glass's idea behind it is pretty cool, its lacking aesthetically in design and moreso in execution (wrong word, but I'm dog tired). Its not exactly an amateur feat and is definitely passable, but not notable. But I am also very critical by nature, known to be obsessed with both aesthetic and symbolic detail, and unfortunately I strive for perfection.

Rat's teeth constantly grow, but they rub them together and chew shit to file them down. Scurvy's teeth were crooked so he couldn't file them down, they were really long and I had to clip them down by hand. One night, before clipping day, he must have been trying to chew the bars of the cage. Cause he got his teeth caught around them and broke his face trying to escape. Very traumatizing.
