You know, I realized today when I was on IRC that Kinkou is one of the best mods that ever graced this forum, or atleast, from the experience I have had. I called her "stinkjew," and she just laughed it off; five minutes earlier I was kicked from the channel by Meta for "putting words in his mouth."

Seriously, you could all take a lesson from her laid-back style of moderating. You crybaby bitches who pressured Zok into "punishing" HB for the actions of a few are some of the ones I am referring to here. I am also referring to the bannings, post deletions, and thread lockings done.

I don't know how to make this thread any more pointed, except for to suggest to Zok (if he happens to read this) that he should not only re-mod Kinkou, but also consider punishing and/or removing the modship of those mods who do all their modding with sticks up their asses. At the very least, stop bending over backwards to them and start giving more credit to your user-base, which for the most part is in utter chaos right now.

Meta said he would leave if she didn't, which, as far as I can image, is one of the most childish threats I can possibly think of, and furthermore, is a big indicator of how emotional and unwise he really is - two traits incompatible with being in a position of power.

The way zokse is being moderated (and the way totse was) doesn't help bring in new members at all. It just scares people away.

There are good mods out there, but most of them lost their jobs after totse. I think zok wants the best, but he has fallen under the influence of cronyism and he's afraid to change.

Even when I was a mod, I was legitimately afraid to post in some forums because I had to stop and wonder whether or not it fit the "perfect" criteria. If not, it would be deleted. But I don't think they would go beyond that, because they know I could reveal things from the Mods and Admin Forum that could cause a general revolt among most of the regulars.

These people need to realize that ultimately your judgment/wisdom should be considered the highest. If you know her in real life, this should give you adequate opportunity to judge whether or not she is worthy of being a mod here. I know it's hard, Zok, when these moderators are getting on your ass about the decisions you make, but you should be strong. I agree with you and think that kinkou would make/has made a wise and competent moderator, and I think you should have more strength to not give in to those more immature moderators (both with respect to changing HB's name/removing post count when they wanted HB deleted, and removing Kinkou as a mod).

Since I have your attention with this thread, I'd like to stress the equal important of both of these issues, since I believe they both stem from the same problem. It's understandable if you do not want to outright get rid of these mods, but please stop letting them run the place. Both the recent demodding of Kinkou / renaming of HB seem to come from this unwillingness to offend the moderators and avoid drama. I know that keeping conflict out the upper echelons is a priority for you, but keep in mind that you have done so at the cost of your users, which is what the site revolves around.

I believe I speak for a large portion of HB when I say that we feel we are being treated as though we are not as important as the rest of the users on the board. We ask that our whole board not be punished for the actions of the select few that were involved in the Wires incident.

At the very least, if you are stuck on the name Bat Country and on the idea that we should not have post counts, please consider some other way (symbolic or otherwise) to make it clear that we are not any less important than the rest of the users on the forum. While I think that giving us a name of our choice (like the rest of the forums) is the best way to do this, perhaps you might be able to come up with another alternative.

I hope I've worded this in a respectable and adult enough manner so that you will reconsider our place in the forum, as well as Kinkou's modship.

i thought the harassment rule was bananas from the start. i don't think that you should let your personal problems affect your duties. besides, in most cases, if you just let it go and shrug it off everyone will forget... i would never let my emotions get inbetween my responsibilities. and yes..... i spend so much time online that i do take it pretty seriously in the sense that i don't let it drive me crazy :)

I agree. Most of the moderators suck. But do you know why? It's because the majority of them, like Meta, have no lives and are total fucking losers. They are probably worse losers than we are, so they take control here because it's the only part of their lives that they can control. They are big fishes in a little pond. I was offered a mod position years ago, because of my knowledge in biology.

Zok has been making poor choices by basing moderator status on friendship and connections.
I don't see that as a proper way of administrating an organization or business.

I'd make a webforum for all of us that rivals RS.

everyone here would truly appreciate your honesty, and although this thread was very serious for that part of the forum, i was never serious about trying to have SotB demodded as i already said. please don't butt in if you are going to stretch the truth in a friend's favor, link the post if you please, it was obvious it was just a game, as SotB started it as
i have never followed anyone around to taunt them, use my position (which is pretty useless now, being zok's girlfriend or not, that is very unimportant apparently given the situation) if i have EVER started something with a moderator, it was because we were in disagreement and i don't like to let things go unresolved, especially when they involve the fate of this site which i care about very much. oddballz and i had our way with each other in that same thread you talked about me claiming to have SotB demodded, and after oddballz locked the thread, we continued to talk in IRC and came to terms with each other, he apologized to me for a few things he should and we dropped it. i don't feel sour at all and i would never follow him around to harass him, nor have i ever. which you can ask him yourself if you please.
but underneath all of this (lulz pun) i will also not hold my tongue if i disagree with someone on a subject i feel strongly about. that is how i have always been, and that is never going to change. i don't see it as a bad personality trait, as i am never violent with people or rude. i just enjoy the debate, and i don't get emotionally involved. i love to debate for the sake of ending everyone on the same page, all with an equal chance to get their say in. everyone's opinion matters to me, and i just like to keep the facts straight

I think members and staff would be well advised to remember that this forum is provided essentially as a public service--no one is required to pay dues or fees, and the management--Zok et alia-- puts a great deal of time, effort and energy into working for nothing.

I probably speak for a lot of people in saying that Mods on this forum needlessly harass and abuse members. Zoklet should be a place where we can collaborate information, discuss important issues, and tell people their a fucking idiot if they are a fucking idiot. The Mods on this forum that got appointed didn't have the idea "A chance to make this a better and safer forum" in their head. they were thinking "Finally now i can look down upon normal members."
In the case of Zok's gf, I don't care how much experience she has. She was a doing a much better then job then most. I can only say that I know Slave of the Beast very well, and even though he did not say a thing about it to me, or say a word to anyone else about it, I know for a fact he was insulted by some comments you made in that thread, which, all joking aside, seemed to indicate you could have his ass handed to him if he didn't recognize your actual authority over him, and it looked tough to tell if you were joking about getting him de-modded.

Regardless of what the usual "-SpectraL you're just complaining because you're not a mod here" morons, who like to spout shit-balls out of their useless pie-holes, and aside from the actual fact that I really don't give two flying fucks that I wasn't modded (community's loss not mine), I was quite distressed when I saw the way Slave would have taken those comments. If you're the girlfriend of a mod/admin anything, you don't get special treatment. Not because you can't perform the duty that was bestowed upon you, but because it is unfair to be "given the position above others who have been around longer"

Even if you HAD been around for years and had been posting when dinosaurs roamed the earth, you would still be a target for assault because at the end of the day, no matter what, zok treating you over anyone else will ALWAYS be viewed as favoritism.

When in a position of power in a community as large as this, the first priority must be the community. If he starts playing favorites with you and it causes a drama that destroys the forum, well that's the end of that. But if you simply go unmodded, the voices who are all for you being modded will be less vocal and disruptive than the ones who are against, and the drama will subside. Pain in the ass? Yeah. Make you feel like shit? Probably. Worth all of this drama? Probably not. Would cause you more grief than you want to stay modded, because some of this lot do NOT let things die. Personally, I would only mod a forum if I knew it wouldn't be more of a pain in my ass than it's worth. There's far more to wires than her appearance. She's good people. If a person gets hung-up on appearance on a message board, then there really isn't much hope for them. I highly doubt that any photos influence the decision-making process. Users received this same level of consideration on totse, even within hb, when it came to serious issues. I rejected the offer for several reasons : 1/ I am unhappy with the way things are currently being handled at the administrative level, and I would not want to serve an adminsitration I do not agree with. 2/ There are too many users here with preconceived notions and personal agendas who would only make trouble for me simply because they are demonstrated idiots (like you), and just because they can. 3/ My primary mandate would be to rid whatever forum I am to manage of every single proven kidiot that pops its ugly pokemon head into a thread, and that kind of mandate would probably not go down well at the administrative level. You see, I don't think any worthwhile community should have any proven kidiots at all in it, and I would probably cause a big stink in applying multiple infractions just to get rid of them and send them back over to their home-ground where they came from. 4/ zok seems to dislike me because of some previous undeserved comments I made about him concerning Totse's closure, blaming him and acidmelt for the closure, and I would doubt he'd approve my moderatorship anyways. It's true that I stand by my comments that they could have done a hell of a lot more to keep the site alive, but I was incorrect when I said they were the sole reason for its closure. I don't blame zok for being angry about that mistake, as I'd feel the same way if this was my site and I was wearing his shoes. 5/ I'm evil, ... much too evil to be a nice moderator.

I don't know whether this is more directed at the moderators or the users - but I agree. Granted, kinkou will debate anything to the bitter end with you (which is partially why I like her so much ;)), but she's never disrespectful when doing so. Do you think I'm incapable of making decisions myself? Just because I sided with one person one time does not mean that I'm forever set in that way - that I've completely abandoned everyone who's on in opposition. No, I listen to the concerns of the moderators who've given me honest and direct feedback. When the vast majority of them are in agreement about something, that means something to me - not to say they are always right.

That's unfair. When people have attacked her I've always said something - both in and out of the public eye. Granted, I don't see everything nor do I expect that you do, but I've stood up for her every time I've see her unjustly criticized on IRC or on the boards - many of those times neither you nor she knows about (#mods or M&A).

Those things imply to people that this place is going to be like totse, but obviously Zok does not want this, which I find a bit selfish. If you don't want all of the responsibilities that come with totse, then don't invite totse to your board and bring over all of the same mods and forums.

If something like your story happened in real life, said householder would be considered an asshole. Actually, its been going on weeks. dramatic event #1 happened when kinkou was demodded which was weeks ago, dramatic event #2 involving HB and wires happened around a week ago. I think that some change would be a good way to differentiate this place from totse. And, you should be a moderator here. You are a hard ass, but you keep an open mind to reason and keep the best interests of the community at hand. There also should not always be a love fest and a bunch of a mod clones. It's best that they learn to disagree and debate issues. It is a democracy with Zok having the final say or veto power. That is what some of the aforementioned mods have seemed to have forgotten.
