View Full Version : Page loads are getting stuck
Pages keep getting "stuck" for me. Usually whenever the page gets to a textarea it just stops and I have to refresh it a few times before it won't get stuck at the textarea. Profile pages are the worst, they get stuck like 4/5 times. For me to browse the site, I have like 6 zoklet tabs open and I just switch through them refreshing them one by one, hoping something loads.
No it's not my internet connection. The server this site is hosted on is slow as fuck.

One thing that usually helps to speed up page loads is to update your java machine to the latest version... http://www.java.com/en/download/ then reboot.
Another thing that causes this kind of problem is either low physical ram memory, or a CPU that is 98% tied up on other applications, so closing unneeded "stay resident" applications and utilities may free up your CPU to load the pages faster.
Spyware and hidden AdWare can also suck CPU time and RAM memory away from page loads, so doing a full system scan and removing all parasites is a good thing to try as well.

One other thing... most of the browser's plugins and addons were actually written by third-party authors. A lot of these have not actually been pen-tested fully, and even though they appear to be working fine and great, they can cause issues in the background with the operation of the browser components themselves... such as memory leaks and page-element conflicts. You may want to try removing all addons and plugins, strip it down to the core, and then if the problem corrects, add them back on one by one until the problem starts again... allowing you to identify the "bad" addon.

This is good advice. I was at one point an add-on addict. It was terrible. Installing add-ons on a whim with no mind of the consequences. I was installing with no reason just for the thrill. It finally caught up to me one day. It was terrible. Mass lock-ups, entire system slowdown, memory usage higher than modern games, it was terrible. It was terrible.

I've been on many different computers, even extremely fast ones with a fresh format and find the text loads up slow. The banners and background load quick and then it just sits for like a min for the text do pop up.
Not a big deal, but it is a site issue.

The site also isn't hosted in the USA, so its going to be a little slower to load than other sites that are hosted closer to you.

Good advice, but this problem only happens to me with Zoklet. And my computer is not running much at all nor do I use any plugins (they always fuck up my Firefox).
I think it's partly due to shitty HTML coding.
