Suggestion to Disable Images in Generally Speaking

Generally speaking isn't just another shitty image board with tired memes and pointlessness. Zoklet is a fundamentally different place. Generally speaking is about discussion, not showing off with a "cool story bro" picture or some shit like that. I'm sick of opening a thread and seeing shitty memes from other websites all up in my shit. Images ought to be for forums where they are useful. DIY for example. Not GS. A link to tinypic is just as good as an image in a thread. And since we can only post thumbnails, why even enable that? It's practically asking for shitty, purpose-made pictures to flame or to simply take up space.

If we prevent the ass-clown children from defacing Generally Speaking with inane graphic files, lots of spammers and generally useless wastes of space will complain that we're taking away their right to free speech. They feel they have a RIGHT to deface the threads in any forum they wish, and preventing them from spamming up the discussion-forums may even make them leave for good. You don't want the site-defacers to leave for good, do you?? Plus, if we disallow them to destroy the place, they'll send complaints to the mods and admins.

I stopped paying attention about two months ago, and I've been posting much less, so apprise me: Has anything changed? Are spammers getting banned effectively?

...Are spammers getting banned effectively?Yes, they are.. and surprising, management has been pretty damned good about it. They are obviously nervous about it, but they have not yet given the high-sign to cease dealing with these proven kidiots. I can see their concern... we don't have the huge userbase like Totse had, so we need to be extremely careful about who we piss off, who we infract and who we ban. Management is quite aware that a large portion of the userbase are spamming and useless asshats, but they are also keenly aware that if we remove them all, the userbase is going to be considerably smaller than one might suspect. The way I look at it, they appear caught between wanting a sizable userbase, and wanting the site defacers gone... and they seem pained to make a solid decision either way. This is the main reason I've overstepped my authority a bit and pushed forward regardless. In my opinion, quality wins out over quantity any day of the week... but I'm just a single opinion among many.

I know what you mean though, but you can't make people not post stupid shit. I wouldn't mind the odd pics in threads if every fucking thread wasn't about another member or something on zoklet (which majority of the time they are).

This site is shit because the members and mods (most of them) are shit.

The redundancy of hate I could put up with, but the thousands of off-topic, no-content and discussion-disrupting graphic files are too much for any quality poster to want to stomach for very long.

Anyone that posts a "cool story bro" pic should perma banned and have their browser redirect them to 4chan when they try to access the site.

Put it this way, fun and luls are going to attract new users which equals more dicussiong. A boring place will not attract new users. On a sidenote I see plenty of mods posting 1 picture replys such as cool story brah etc.
