So no shit there I was, 5 years ago, playing with black powder. Sitting there thinking how cool I am 'cause I can make little smelly puffs of smoke I wanted something cooler. A lot of people that do LE don't use GP. Don't ask me why but I think it's 'cause of the cost of ascorbic. I'll pay a little to try something new. :cool:

It's an easy mix, 60/40 KNO3:Ascorbic acid. Wondering where to get ascorbic? Your local pharmacy should have some. Could be called ascorbic acid but it's probably gonna be vitamin C. Gotta get that shit outta the pills somehow, right? Well good thing it's water soluble and everything else in there isn't. Too easy. Once you've got your vitamin C, calculating how much you'll have with from how many pills you filtered, just add in your nitrate and the tiniest bit of bicarb. Warm the solution up to get the golden color you're looking for. Drying it without cooking any further is the hardest part. If you undercook your yellow powder you can use a little bit more heat to dry it out. Otherwise it's gonna be a chore to dry a hygoscopic gooey lump.

I've only made it a few times myself but it's good stuff. Smells awful though. Can be sort of catalyzed to burn faster with a bit of Fe2O3 also.

last time i did i was maybe 15 i tried to dry it on a stovetop because it was too wet like days to dry too wet but then i left came back it was drier i got greedy startdd heating it again and about 500g's like an entire large cookie sheet full of the shit went right up and smoked out my entire house in the middle of the winter my parents were verey angry

I like the smell. Smells like an orange cake, looks like a cake too when it's risen.

You might be able to extract vitamin c in a pure enough form from black currants or something. Or barbados cherry which has even more vitamin c. Dog rose has a lot also but the seeds aren't very easy to germinate.

I've got barbados cherry, black currant and dog rose. I may try it. What I'd like more is plants that are genetically modified to produce explosives that can easily be extracted with water.
