I don't really watch movies that much So I don't have that much experience with selecting good ones. I was hoping you videophiles  could help me out with finding a movie to watch tonight based on some movies I've liked recently. The movies are Brick, A Scanner Darkly, Garden State, Gran Torino, Hard Candy and Righteous Kill.

I especially like dystopian movies and will probalby be on DXM so anything trippy would be good. Thanks and advance. Also I must say you have an awesome avatar Fish

I would recommend A Clockwork Orange, naturally, and Brazil. They're both very good films, and the former is a Stanley Kubrick!

Taxi Driver. :)

Edit: You got your name from Atlas Shrugged. Right?

Oh god, I almost forgot! You wanted something trippy, right? Don't miss 2001: A Space Odyssey. I can imagine the scene where he goes through the vortex will blow you mind. A large tv is recommended for maximum effect.

Yeah, I liked it's mysterious nature and thought it would be especially fitting as a pseudonym plus I liked the book

Ayn Rand turned into such a pretentious bitch near the end of that book though. It was great until Dagny Taggart and all the men who were fucking her started into some queer spy special-ops shit, and John Galt made that ridiculous 100 page speech where he said the exact same thing Rand had been saying for the previous 1,100 pages.

Anyway, Blade Runner's great if you've never seen it, The Man Who Fell To Earth is super trip - it's a cult classic from the 70s starring David Bowie = weird weird insane awesome

Since you liked Brick check out some of the old film noir - I'd recommend "The Maltese Falcon". For trippyness (drugs are essential!) check out "Waking Life" - it's the same director as "A Scanner Darkly" with the same kind of visual style.

well if you liked garden state, the correlation rate between people who like that movie and eternal sunshine of the spotless mind is like r=.99

Brick is weird teen-noir.

For incredible surreal neo-noir by David Lynch, see Blue Velvet.

I'de recommend a clock work orange on acid, if you truely want to experience a trippy dystopia.

You might like equilibrium.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

I worked in a Hollywood Video for a couple years and it was stolen more often than any of the other old movies. When a replacement came in, it was gone within a week.

Also, one that everybody should see: The People Versus Larry Flint.

Labyrinth- You can't go wrong with David Bowie

American Beauty is a gorgeous film, and Darjeeling Limited would be a lovely choice too. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is always an A+ choice.

I'm going to throw out two total opposites.

28 Days Later or Tommy.

28 Days Later is a horror/thriller/cinematic experience, while Tommy is a pretty entertaining movie full of music from The Who with a wacked out story.

A really great one would be Happy Birthday, Wanda June; however, I'm not sure if you'll be able to find it.

Heavy Metal 2000

Whoa, whoa, whoa. You did not just recommend HM 2000 over the original.
Shame on you sir.

OP: The original Heavy Metal is the one you want.

Labyrinth- You can't go wrong with David Bowie

...but if you're going with David Bowie, the way to go is The Man Who Fell to Earth. Much better than Labyrinth IMO
