EMC3 used to talk about 'the conspiracy of stupid people' and I wrote him off as a bad troll. But I now realize that he may have had a point of sorts; that the real conspiracies (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1141342/Terror-law-overkill-Police-stop-180-000-people-draconian-laws-255-arrested.html) are taking place in front of their faces, but they are too brainwashed not to understand but to care.
One of the reader comments made about this article exemplfies this:

Despite the sheer numerical stupidity of his argument staring him in the face, he argues that we're being 'kept safe from the terrorists'. It isn't even established that they are terrorists, simply that they have been arrested under some bullshit law designed to inhance the states ability to harrass and intimidate its citizens.
The Politics of Fear and the policies it allows the state to produce, is one of the greatest conspiracies facing US and UK societies. Yet because it's 'hidden' in the open, fools rush to embrace it as the truth.
