Its called UFO: Alien Invasion, and its a great idea. I tried playing this but several thing annoyed me so bad I had to quit before I started flaming the devs forum. Major flaws:
1.) No destructible environments - this is a major feature (destructible environs) that made the x-com games great, the main engine for this game doesn't allow for anything of the sort, fucking retarded.
2.) Your soldiers are now even more retarded - they can't seem to throw their grenades more than 10 to 15 feet even with a wide open clear as fuck line of sight, it won't even let you try. Fucking retarded
3.) You start with 21st century military hardware (2084) yet you can't get a transport ship that holds more than 8 fucking guys. You also have to wait for the game to make more people available to hire, in other words your stuck with limited soldiers (and researchers, workers & medics) throughout the game, making anything more than 1 or 2 casualties unacceptable, so you have to do the mission over again, this really breaks thing hard when you consider #5 below. What, are there only 8 professional soldiers on the entire goddamed planet when you start??? (at standard difficulty) Fucking retarded.
4.) Soldiers have even less time units than before. Do they intentionally hire crippled diseased retards for this outfit? What's next, walkers & wheelchairs? They'd probably be faster. Fucking retarded.
5.) Because they are assholes they removed the in mission save feature. In a game like this where one accidental move or unlucky break can result in your entire squad getting slaughtered, it helps to be able to save in the missions so you don't end up doing long tedious missions over again. It's a real fun killer. If you're some delusional basement dwelling piece of shit who thinks you shouldn't save during the missions then guess what, don't save you stupid fucking retard.
I realize its still in a playable beta form but for all I can see they don't understand the sort of things that made the original x-com games (the first 2 at least) great. I think the devs should give up and publish a book entitled making shitty retarded games for dummies.
