I think I posted this a while back on totse, but it mostly went unnoticed.
Deer fight for Supremacy
Amidst plains and pastures green
Using their points like swords
Up high, a falcon has seen
One is pierced and prodded
Left to die in a river bed
The herd proceeds southward
To escape the winters dread
Autumn leaves bury the deer
Antlers left to expose
The grim frost creeps forward
The carcass shall not decompose
A lynx nibbles the velvet
Of a being buried below
It's antlers stand the test of time
In a frostbitten grave of snow
Spring and summer emerge
As any would have thought
Rotting remains of velvet
On antlers long forgot
I have no training in poetry, I wrote it on my birthday last year.
