Only recently I started seriously getting into rap and hip hop and I've got most of the classics, but now I want to hear some of those lesser known gems that every genre inevitably has.
To give you a bit of a guide to my taste, I love pretty much all the solo stuff Wu Tang has brought out, Nas' first album, MF Doom, Dr Octagon (though whatever the fuck he's talking about is beyond me), Mos Def\Talib Kweli and most of the classic golden age hip hop. Suggest away, my friends.

Nothing beats a good 90's east coast rap song. This coming from a guy who ranks hip-hop/rap as his fourth favorite genre.
I used to hate all the songs that talked about bitches n hoes and 9mm's. But realized that it had the same aggression as punk and hard-rock.

I've been going through it all slowly. Pardon the word dump below, thought I better actually reply to each one.
Didn't like Spank Rock, I'm not into that whole 'yeah I fucked this one chick' kind of music (jealousy I guess?)
The Cool Kids seem alright, I'll have to give them another listen.
Didn't like Three 6 Mafia (always thought I would too) or Lil Wayne (no surprises there lol).
Already listen to Gravediggaz, they kick ass.
Aesop Rock are reaaaaal smooth.
Didn't like Atmosphere at all but "When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold" is an awesome album title :D
Didn't like Sage Francis.
I don't think it's possible for me to not like Eyedea & Abilities.
Didn't like Cage, too generic.
Cadence Weapon is pretty sweet, even if he's whinging about biters by biting one of Raekwon's metaphors lol.
Didn't like Clipse, although I really want to buy a white tux now.
El-P is pretty interesting, worth another listen at least.
I've already heard some MF Grimm, reminded me to actually get an album or two.
I'll get to the rest later, thanks a shitload guys.

Although with most of my music i find i like all the songs from artists i like; but often with rap only a few songs are good (to me).
Public Enemy- Fight The (political)
Grandmaster Flash and the furious five- The message/ White lines (political)
Biz Markie - Just Friend + Spring Again (bitches and ho's rap; but its done so tastefully).
For me you gotta check out its spring again by biz markie if u havent heard it although just a friend is more well known.
50 cent actually does a decent remix of Just a Freind called Best Friend.

okay it seems you're open minded when it comes to rap there's definitely different colors if you get me
look check out a track called celph titled - clap (ft. kashmere the pro and oktober) it's out in the middle of nowhere in terms of undergound rap. check out zion i - bird's eye view which was like his one hit wonder
other rap I have to reccomend non phixion, jedi mind tricks, the infamous mobb, scarface, capone and noriega, big l, keep searching you'll find some beast stuff. biterphobia by eminem is better than most rap released at his recording time (1994)

Awesomeawesomeawesome. I've been a little slack with getting to the rest of the songs seeing as I recently invested in Saints Row 2 (excellent fun by the way), but I'll get through all of this ASAP. I definitely want to hear some more Wu Tang\Wu Tang affiliates. Thanks everyone.

can I also suggest Jdownloader? basically you can set it up so while it's running, everytime you press ctrl+c over a link it recognizes (megaupload, rapidshare, media fire links etc) it adds to a small que, after you are done copying links, go to the window that popped up and accept the packages. It will do all else to download the files, it automates the whole process of not having premium accounts and make it much less of a pain.
i use albumhunt and albumwash, i believe albumbase is being rebuilt. they run slow, but worth the time because you can find some really hard to find stuff on there. warez-bb sometimes has good stuff. But always check for discography torrents before moving onto warez, it's just much easier. and yeah, etalon's hip hop and trip hop site came through very well combined with the jdownloader.
oh. and get Craig Mack, i forgot about him up there.
