Okay, so my cousin, brother, and I have made the infamous smoke bombs(KNO3/Sugar), and I've been officially bitten by the bug. I've already read through the entire n00b/beginner thread post, and I'm wondering what's the next sort of logical progression on the pyrotechnic front after smoke bombs? I was thinking maybe trying to make some black powder or something but I'm unsure and pretty uninitiated.
Thoughts?

Is what your talking about that weedkiller and sugar?
I cant remember my periodic table whats KNO3?
What i'm thinking of with the weedkiller is sodium chlorate, i hear some people have made it explode, just fizzled like shit when I tried it though :(

The weed killer you've got is only like 50% NaClO3, you have to either separate the inert shit out by particle size or fractal crystallization.
The common starting point in pyrochem is smoke mix, KNO3/Su. From there most people move on to black powder, then flash powder. This is usually where the split between HE and pure pyro is decided. Your next project shows where you may move. Fountains, aerial shells and the like? Pure pyro. Nitrocellulose, Erythritol Tetranitrate and their sweet siblings? HE.
