Although i am still waiting for a more stable version, this article makes you see some of the negative sides of Windows 7. Although i would still install it anyway ;).

Those are all petty, and as for a 'stable' version. Build 7000 is pretty stable, and all ready has software support and drivers. Hell I even got a USB wireless adapter to work with it, and the same device had no luck in Vista (and it worked whenever it felt like it in XP).

Although Longhorn Beta was better than Vista, so we'll see...

7 things a hipster turtleneck wearing blogger fuckwit complains about.
7 is superior to XP, and Vista, I've been using it a bit recently, and that's something, as previous to 7, I hadn't booted into windows for months.

They seem a bit nitpicky there to be honest.

I dunno if I'll upgrade. I just like XP so much :) And I hate Vista so much...and 7's a combination......

There is one thing i absolutely hate about win7 and that is:

no classic start menu.

Although this is small, it's enough for me to not touch win7 (I absolutely hate the new-fangled menu they have)

I am yet to hear people say anything constructive about the OS, apart from it having new eye candy.

I am yet to hear people say anything constructive about the OS, apart from it having new eye candy.

Let me resolve that for you. In my experience:

Games run better; more FPS, more stable even with a more demanding configuration.
The new task bar rocks; the ability to pin programs is something I've wanted in Windows since I bought my Macbook.
The configuration is extensive; there's so much more you can do to make it your own.
It's free.

Has MS gone all philantropic on us now?

I can tell you, they fucked the task bar all up. Your use to being able to click down there to open lowered windows, well they have like a windows quick preview that comes up and its annoying as fuck.

They need to work on the task bar, its a sad joke with windows 7.

Nah, only the beta is free. Free is free, though.

I use a custom shell (bblean) anyway - you configure it once, and then you keep a familiar robust interface on any Windows version. So interface changes don't concern me much.

Anyone have a link for the beta version? also if this a truly free version or is it a trial version?

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/beta-download.aspx

There's the link, but the beta is no longer officially for download. You can still grab yourself a legit key from that page and torrent the beta, though. You're looking for build 7000.

It is truly free and totally unlocked. I've only had a little trouble with it.

I don't think updates would be included.

I've installed Windows 7 64 bit version, It's nice and quick.
Only problems I have had so far are,
-Logitech Webcam will not work, with latest drivers, and also a Sony Handycam.
-Logitech 5.1 surround speakers won't play out of all speakers only 2 and the subwoofer, i've check the settings in windows and set it to 5.1, and also installed latest drivers.

Other than that, I'm likening it so far. :)

Hang on, I thought the beta ends in august. I'm pretty sure its a trial.

They're not going to let you use the beta after RTM, I thought that was common sense.

I thought the beta version wasn't really free but a trial version. That's why I was asking.

The taskbar on W7 is so much better than the taskbars on XP and Vista.

Found a solution to this yet? I have the same problem.

My speakers are Logitech x-540.
