I just thought up a new stat, akin to post count.
Maybe it is being tracked already, in which case... my bad.
The stat I refer to is "threads started" .
A member who starts a new thread should get a bit more points versus those who just reactively post in other's threads, IMO.

Replies can be just as good, or better even, than new threads.

Points given for original thinking.

Yeah, if clone threads get equal points, the plan is nullified.

Sounds like a voting system, basically, because someone would have to personally screen the threads to be sure if they deserve the points. Too much trouble, and I don't really see much of a benefit.

I still think the best way to encourage good posts is to reward good posters with avatars, custom user titles, or even modship consideration.

I don't like this idea, for the reason that #2 said. Sorry.

This idea makes no sense. It would just stop people from replying to threads, as they'd just make their own.

I hardly ever make threads, doesn't mean I don't contribute to this forum.

Well, with my plan, you get more points for making new threads.
You probably wouldn't qualify for the bonus points.
But you still get a +1
