ITT We discuss how one would go about robbing a bank. Hopefully this will become a goldmine of info.
Here's how I would do it if I were to rob a bank. Note that I haven't robbed a bank nor do I plan on doing so.
I would rob a town bank with a population of about 10000. I figure they would have a decent amount of money while at the same time not having as much security as big city banks.
First You should surveile the place for a number of weeks, in order to find out:
1. The vault location
2. Number of Staff and Guards
3. Security methods in place
If you surveile the parking lot day after day, you could build a schedule of when employees work. You should also observe the building from the outside to see what any potential witnesses would see. Plan it so the robbery goes down when the glare of the window makes it impossable to see inside.
For the perfect example of what not to do, watch a video of the LA bank robbers shooting it out with police. They took too long, got too greedy, got seperated and didn't have an escape plan.
Now, we all know that dye bombs have posed a problem for many bank robbers. Here is a solution. The diaper genie. The diaper genie is a contraption that holds a ring shaped roll of pre twisted plastic tubing. The soiled nappy is dropped into the diaper genie, which causes the tubing to wrap around it, forming a linked sausage of individually wrapped diapers. By stuffing the loot through the diaper genie the money becomes encapsuled in small, plastic wrapped bundles. This will greatly reduce any loss cause by dye packs. I recomend bringing several of these, and putting them all in one duffel bag.
The first Friday of the month is probably the best time to commit the robbery since that is usually when people get their paychecks. The best time of year is obviously around Christmas, since that's when shops will be making a lot of revenue, so banks will be flooded with cash!
For a disguise, sunglasses, a wig and clothing that covers up a lot of your skin should do just fine. Probably should burn any clothing used during the robbery, since it will almost certainly be on camera. *edit* On second thought maybe a hat would be better than a wig...
Now onto that actual robbery. As soon as you step in the bank you should lock it with a chain and combo lock. Then to prevent any suspicion you should print up a sign saying "Due to computer difficulties, we are unable to handle any transactions until the problem is resolved. We regret any difficulties this may cause. (Name of bank)".
Onto the vault. This is where the big money is. Somebody in the bank will have the keys for it. If you do your homework you'll know who this is. Get them to open the vault and then put him face down in a corner. Don't let him "help" you because he'll toss all kinds of unwanted crap in the bag.
For the getaway, get familiar with the immediate surroundings of the bank, so you know all the escape routes. On the way out, zip tie the doors shut so no idiot decides to follow. Once you get out walk, since running draws attention. Have the car in a nearby parking lot, but not the bank parking lot. Use a stolen car, and have your own car in a pre planned spot far away from the bank. Switch to your own car and make sure no evidence is left in the old one. Remove all carpeting from the car, cover the seat and headrests with plastic, and the floor with remavable mats, all of which will be removed when you make the switch.
Now, you have two options when it comes to trackers.
Option A) Put the bag in a magic bag like the ones used by shoplifters and dispose of the tracker later when you're far away.
Option B) Scan the money bags with a handheld metal detector while you're making the car switch and if you do find one, throw it in a pick up truck heading the other way or something.
