The guy I work for also sells cars and he's selling an '01 Pontiac Grand Prix for 4000.
It's in almost mint condition, and everything runs perfect. It's got GM's 3800 series V6. It's not the GTP I would prefer, it's an SE but i think i would settle. It's in black. Almost exactly like this one: http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/autoreview/400x266/2001-Pontiac-Grand-Prix-01129191990003.jpg
What's GH's opinion on the Grand Prix? Past experiences, like/dislike, good/bad motor, like the body style or no, etc.
**Argon if you could chime in here it would really help i value your opinion on GM vehicles highly.

Well, the 3800 is a very solid motor, 4t60e usually holds up well. If you're compatible with Pontiac's interior styling of that vintage, it should serve you well. I agree, the price is probably a bit high.

Can't imagine why, it's Fail Wheel Drive.
3800's a solid motor, that's about all I can say about them.

Makes a great daily if you get it for a good price. $4k is not such a good value unless its got like 50k or less on it, in otherwise mint condition. You can get an SSEI/GTP whatever the supercharged one was that year for around 3-4k.
Again, as a daily it is great. Pretty reliable, cheap to fix, comfortable and has a great and sturdy motor. The supercharged ones can easily run 300hp with basic, cheap mods.

The 3.8 is a very well engineered engine. The Series II 3800, however, can develop a water leak from the intake manifold due to a design flaw, as well as have catalytic converter problems. It's not hugely common, but it is an issue with that particular engine. Looking at some of the reviews, it seems that the wheel speed sensors are known to not be very reliable causing ABS and traction control problems.
FWD doesn't quite tickle my pickle, but Pontiac sedans seem like nice daily drivers. The interior looks alot like my mom's Bonneville and it's plenty nice for a bread-and-butter sedan. Not to mention good fuel economy.
$4000 seems like a moderately fair deal for a car it's age and condition. It's a nice deal if you checked its KBB value. How many miles does it have?

Why thank you. :D

^I can vouch for that GM platform having sensor probs. It is common enough to see the dash lit up with service lights, ABS and T/C. Most often you retain the ABS but the traction control will fail. It never bothered me personally, but it IS a reliability issue.
