I went and saw it last night(opening night).

I agree, it was one of the most brutal slasher flicks I've ever seen. I was very pleased.

Just got back from it. I was very pleased...easily the most well-directed out of the entire series (and probably the best overall), and the first where Jason really comes off as a powerful force to be reckoned with. The prologue was also insanely awesome...the sleeping bag, the guy stuck in the trap, and then Jason comes running and fucks him up. Fucking great. I just wish they hadn't spoiled the part where he runs at the girl though; it lost some of its effect since you see it in the trailers.

Overall, it wasn't as intense and memorable as Nispel's TCM, though I suppose that's because Jason movies are just as straightforward as they come. Hopefully in the sequel they try to do something new instead of just having Jason pick off the cast until only the one or two leads are left.
