So, this 4 part movies are in the making, and they are basically a new version of one of the best anime series of all time. I could only watch Evangelion 1.0 (Dvdrip) sometime ago, but I can't find the 2nd movie nowhere.
All I find is shitty CamRips. Why would I want a camrip if the new revamped versions use extremely appealing animation and cgi?
What are your thoughts on this?

Not so much a movie as much as they've repackaged the series. Still, I saw part 1.0 and it's pretty good.
As far as where to download 2.0, I always recommend torrentz.com. They usually have whatever I'm looking for.

Yeah it isn't live action, its the second or third remake of the series. I think they did a good job with 1.0, haven't seen 2.0 yet.

something about shinji jacking off furiously over asuka's body turned me off of that series. that and the ending.
if your going to make a shitty ending, releasing countless movie to make up for it will not help.

I can't seem to remember that part...
He sees the girl on the hospital bed and exposes her little breasts as he shakes her to wake up. He faps and then he cries because he feels guilty.

May 26th for 2.22 DVD/Bluray release, as far as I know.
Personally I can't wait for the 2030 remake featuring Rei clones in all roles.

I think Plank from Ed, Edd, and Eddy might have more character depth the Rei.

That's why the Plank remake is expected to be so successful.

There are movies? 33% fanservice, 33% Shinji being a wimp and 33% mecha battles?

More like 19% fanservice, 40% Shinji being the fucking man, 40% mecha battles, and umm...1% kaworu >_>

Well, I had totally forgotten about this thread. I did finally get to see the 2nd movie not too long ago, and all I can say is some of the angel battles were revamped and holy shit, awesome. Whole new plotline in the next movie, several changes and a new eva pilot. Looks good

Yeah, it's a different storyline now. I shat bricks during the Sahaquiel (the giant falling angel from the sky) and Zeruel (the one with tin foil arms) battles.

I found Evangelion 1.0 at the library yesterday but couldn't check it out because someone had a hold on it. :hrmph:
I guess I'll put a hold on it so I can watch it after they're done. I'll need to return some movies next week anyways.

I came back in here to say you should do just that, these movies would be better approcated on a tv. Since 2.0 isn't on DVD in English and you don't want to wait you should go on veoh, but 2.0 would be fantastic on a big screen

Waits impatiently for the next to come out.
And when the fuck is cowboy bebp making a return? I wonder if people in this world are actually going to go the noble route and leave the story where it ended or if they will make some money off it. Because you know they can. Releasing a new series with this day and age's technology? GOLD#N OPPO4TUNI7Y

It would be epic. I was re-watching Cowboy Bebop again for the millionth time too the other day and shit, there needs to be moar.
If the live action movie ever gets made though... it's probably gonna suck ass.
Anyway, probably the only reason I like Evangelion so much is because of the angel fights. Some of them are so bizarre.

This series seems to be taking an "epic" route. Meaning that they are sacrificing the character storylines for action. But, Is ok with that.

Enjoy. Imagine some gigantic mecha running at the speed of sound in the nearby mountains. I'd prolly shit myself.

You know what the problem is with a series like evangelion? They take over the top action like for instance dragon ball z, but try to give it an adult twist by making it all sorts of sophisticated with deep character development and a storyline that simply tries too hard to be complex. What they achieve is a crapload of fail. Evangelion only seems to really impress teenagers under the age of 16 and a few nerds above that age. The type of kids who are too cool to watch the dumb action packet anime that doesn't really have any deeper meaning to it.
Cowboy Bebop on the other hand does succeed because its storyline is very deep and complex, yet it revolves around a rather simple subject. When you look at things like death, love, jealousy, hunger for power, et cetera, you see they are very basic and simple human traits. They can however have very complex implications in our lives creating our relationships far more complex than they should be by design. If you create a story, anime, movie, whatever around this, you can go as deep as you want but always have to keep in mind that you're dealing with a very simple principle. If you can do that and add a lil' bit of style to it, then you have yourself a winner. Evangelion, simply doesn't have it. Again, it would be like dragon ball z trying to explain the fabric of life or the reason of existence. It's far too ambitious and literally leads to nowhere. Especially when you have a show about robots beating each other up.
You can class anime in the following:
Over the top action with no adult story - Mostly watched by kids, but provided they have a good dosage of humor, can have an adult audience as well.
Stylish or very minimalistic storyline which digs very deep into humanity - Mostly watched by adults or teens who want to be different but don't yet understand their feelings due to puberty.
Overly weird with no real story or point and a big emphasis on high tech animation - Plain fun. Watched by anyone. Some people will try to look for hidden messages or deeper meaning but will only find their own bullshit. Good visuals = great entertainment.
Any combination of these 3 will usually result in instant fail, which is a bit ironic because most of the popular anime tries to combine elements from these 3 categories.

That's why I liked this new "reboot" in the movies. Watching episodes where Shinji acted like a bitch for 20 minutes and Rei, well, was no more entertaining than an inflatable sex doll was pretty boring sometimes. I usually skipped that shit and watched some giant creatures beat the shit out of each other and nuke cities and whatnot.
Evangelion is pretty overrated, yes, although it is a good series it would've probably been better with simple fights and less psychology.
Cowboy Bebop is just win; good music, story, simple yet interesting characters and it pretty much appeals to any audience.

Not bad, but the characters are just all pretty faggy.

I'll admit that the series lost a lot of what I found to be the reason why I watched it in the first place after re-watching it again years later. Back then, I was as you describe, a 16 year old teenager who could identify in part with the main character of the story. Although, I wouldn't agree entirely on the crapload of fail comment considering it is at least in part the only kind of the genre that mixes different approaches on psychology... at least that I've seen. The part of that I do agree with, is the fact that they have so many revisions of the same basic foundation of a storyline. Still, this is anime we're talking about. The great part about it being that it can mix what a person who enjoys reading a novel, watching cinema and enjoys the "simplistic perfection" of animation.
Although I don't understand why the animation can't have a higher degree of motion smoothness and other like shortcomings at this point.
