Think about the bible, look how God appears in physical forms, has conversations with people and even HAS A SON BY SPIRIT RAPE! What happened? Why are we expected to hhave faith now when before he was so in our face in biblical times. Where is God?

The only explanation I can think of is that he willed himself out of existence. Maybe the idea bothered him and he got curious. You don't often think of a powerful being like God to have very human personality traits. But we all are created in his image right? Maybe it was more than just image. Maybe we inherited God's curiosity for destruction and now he's left us here, alone.

Breaking News: USSC to Consider Prayer at Government Meetings

WASHINGTON -- The Supreme Court agreed Monday to consider whether prayers can be offered at government meetings -- a practice that's been common in Congress and throughout the states for more than two centuries.

The religious expression case, which comes to the court from the town of Greece, N.Y., focuses on the first 10 words of the First Amendment, ratified in 1791: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion."

That Establishment Clause was violated, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals ruled last year, when the Greece Town Board repeatedly used Christian clergy to conduct prayers at the start of its public meetings. The decision created a rift with other appeals courts that have upheld prayer at public meetings, prompting the justices to step in.

Alliance Defending Freedom, an Arizona-based Christian non-profit group, appealed the case to the Supreme Court. It is supported in separate briefs by 49 mostly Republican members of Congress and 18 state attorneys general.

In a press release entitled "Prayer will be heard on high," the group noted the high court affirmed the practice of prayer before public meetings in the 1983 case Marsh v. Chambers, in which it cited an "unambiguous and unbroken history" of such prayers.

But recent legal attacks by individuals and groups claiming to be offended by such prayers have created significant confusion in the lower courts.
The prepubescent squeal of the teenage atheist is once again being heeded by the American Judicial System. Hundreds of years of American Religious heritage is about to be destroyed by a bunch of fedora wearing, neck beard sporting atheists. If the government specifically excluded non-Christians from leading prayer, then that would be violating the Establishment Clause. But if the issue is over the place of any form of prayer at government meetings, then I do not see any violation of the 1st Amendment. Religion has always been a positive force for change in Government, from the Revolution, to Slavery and Civil Rights.

I think that while there may or may not be a God, the human brain is designed to believe there is one but I can't figure out why it would be designed to however. Any insight on why it would be useful?

And not designed in the deity kind of way but "designed" by evolution.

Up until this point in the Bible, the whole world had one language - one common speech for all people. The people of the earth became skilled in construction and decided to build a city with a tower that would reach to heaven. By building the tower they wanted to make a name for themselves and also prevent their city from being scattered.

God came to see their city and the tower they were building. He perceived their intentions, and in His infinite wisdom, He knew this "stairway to heaven" would only lead the people away from God. He noted the powerful force within their unity of purpose. As a result, God confused their language, causing them to speak different languages so they would not understand each other. By doing this, God thwarted their plans. He also scattered the people of the city all over the face of the earth.

if he possesses infinite wisdom why didn't he foresee this?why was he so offended? and why would he punish us like this knowing it would cause so much war and racism?? why hasnt he punished modern humans for making spaceships and mars rovers?? surely these can get us closer to heaven than an earth based structure:confused:

How can anyone object to the Ten Commandments? Only a whiny teenage Atheist could get his panties in a bunch over seeing "Thou Shalt Not Murder" or "Thou Shalt not Covet". Atheists are driving this country into tyranny. Without a firm moral base, like the one established by the Ten Commandments, we will increasingly rely on the Government to make moral decisions for us. That isn't freedom, that is godless Communism, which is the goal of all Atheist rhetoric. Maybe if we required the Ten Commandments to be posted in classrooms, we'd be living in a better country.
