The idea is if Zoklet is more easy, simple, and smaller (in terms of forums/features) it might appeal better to a Web 2.0 audience.

I have been monitoring the average monthly user count since Feburary 2012. It's been in a steady decline ever since, slowly, but surely. I proposed we beef up our advertisement, and Zok suggested we try to simplify instead. So after much discussion and debate, we've come up with this rough draft of the new forum layout.

There will also be other changes, such as mission statements, site policy, infractions, features, etc. all aimed to be more simple, but those announcements will be coming in the upcoming weeks.

Here is your new forum layout that will be implemented at some point this weekend if not tonight.

Consolidate:

• Generally Speaking, Pissing Each Other Off, and Bat Country. I think the best name for it would simply be Generally Speaking.

Remove:

• The Trading Pit (?)

Add:

• LOL, Internet and This Just In! to the consolidation into "Generally Speaking"

Entertainment
__________________________________________________ __________

Consolidate:

• The Book Nook, Music!, TV & Movies, and Visual Arts. Seeing as they are all a type of media, there is no reason for them to be separate. Give it a new name.

Keep:

• Fragyard, and Viva La Sports separate because they would be out of place if consolidated with the other Entertainment forums.
  
• LOL, Internet would become apart of the General Forum

• DIY and Gearheads. Name it, "DIY'ers & Gearheads"?

Keep:

• Bad Ideas and There's A Pyro In All Of Us

• Leave Human Life section as it is, as those topics are so diverse, our most popular and nearly impossible to merge anywhere else.

• The Inhumane Condition and Der Politik and give it a new name.

• Weapons & Combat and Mission Support maybe name it "Weapons, Combat, and Mission Support"?
  
  
• Leave Travel And World Language and Religion & Spirituality separate.

And there you have it. That's consolidating 37 forums (Jesus :eek: ) down to 25, eliminating 12 forums. So essentially 1/3 of our forums have been downsized and merged into another forum. That's a good start and there may be even more merging afterwards, but for now, these are the changes you can expect.

However, I would like to hear opinions on the proposed changes from the user base, as you guys are the ones who give life to this website.
