As to other statement, thee mentioned having slow internet so Rolf assumed thee to be in New Zealand, but now that it is mentioned that thee is in former pacific battle-zone Rolf has to assume an island further north, adds Rolf.

Napoleon was forced into aggression because every other European power at the time had declared him a criminal upon his escape and return to France; there would have been no defending France against all fronts when the attackers would have been able to send and receive more resources to and from each other across the sea, states Rolf. When surrounded it's best to break through than to stand in the corner; the first gives a possibility of victory and the second gives the possibility of a last stand, proclaims Rolf.

After their failure in Moscow and Stalingrad, the tables had turned on the Germans, after Kursk they had no chance of victory, D-Day was a nail in the coffin already full of nails, it is given too much significance, proclaims Rolf. That 20% of the Wehrmacht's power would not have been able to return to the Eastern Front as failure to capture Britain means they needed to keep forces there. A price paid in blood is far more expensive than a price paid in ore, proclaims Rolf.

His terrain disadvantage was largely due to the weather that occurred on the day of the battle, notes Rolf. Napoleon's political position at the time (his return from exile, every other country trembling in fear and declaring him a criminal) basically forced him into aggressive motion; any chance he had at victory relied on him defeating the British-commanded forces before he could handle the Prussians, proclaims Rolf.

As to WWII, the significant brunt of the German forces was taken by the USSR, what kept the USSR going was Allied resources, but after Kursk the Germans had lost regardless of weather D-Day had happened or not, proclaims Rolf. Of course, the significance of the Allies in the Pacific Campaign was far more pivotal, adds Rolf. By the way, how is it to be stuck in middle of nowhere with dial-up connection? asks Rolf.

True, but that is almost like saying that it was mainly Russia that won the Great Patriotic War because she was the one who defeated Nazi Germany at the Battle of Berlin, notes Rolf. Not only this, but there was at least a 30,000 numerical advantage against the French at Waterloo and horrible terrain (due to the rain) which made it much harder for Napoleon to launch his offensives, adds Rolf. Napoleon was one of the world's greatest military commanders without equal at his time, states Rolf. Also, it was Prussians, not Germans, at the battle, while technically true that Prussians are Germans (at least by this time in history), it is too broad a term, similar to saying "Belgians" when one is speaking of Walloons, proclaims Rolf.
