I found a couple bags filled with coins!

I was walking around tonight when I stumbled upon two bags filled with what looks like commemorative Ukrainian / Canadian coins. I'm pretty confused and I wanna know what their value (if any) is.

I have some pictures here but they aren't very good quality. If anybody can help me out, it would be greatly appreciated!

The back side of the coin looks like it has two Buddhists sharing the load of some kinda pot and the phrase "100 Jitta" between them.

On the front it has 100 Jitta and 1891-1991 / 1892-1992 and Centennial of Ukrainians in Canada.

Someone help me please!

i dunno man, id take em to a coiun shop to have em appraised/find out what they are so you can look em up on the net.

If there silver or gold then regardless of what they are theyll be worth at least something.

Apparently they're commemorative coins to celebrate the 100 years of Ukrainian people in Canada.

So they aren't worth anything.

Anyhow, I've always been a bit of a numismatist myself. No greater excitement than coming up on a little trove of coins. In any case, I don't recognize that coin you're holding up.

Google search by webpage/image returns no information on these coins. All the main coin-collector indexes contain no reference to these coins. It's almost like these coins never existed.

That first one doesn't look familiar, but then again, there's a lot of glare. The second coin looks very similar to a commemorative coin that we used. Iunno about the writing though. Never read those coins.

But yeah, if it's the one that I'm thinking of (85% sure), then it's not worth anything special. That's just a fairly new (for coins) commemorative design that we used on our quarters. For some reason, Canada has a lot of those special designed coins (Olympic coins, Terry Fox coins, Inuit coins, etc...).

Are they silver?

I had some similar looking/sized silver coins (different commemorative events) and sold them for $50 each at a local pawn shop, apparently about what the weight in silver was worth. Around that time I also heard that if its issued by the official mint of canada you can take it to a post office and get the going rate of silver for it, although I never tried that.
