Default Star Trek First Contact

I FINALLY got aorund to seeing this, depsite the fact it was made before some of our younger members were born--at the time, i was living in a squalid hovel with no electicity or running water, didn't read a paper or anything like that. But I digress.

I loved it. That old Star Trek magic worked for me--the sly self-referential humour, the "ain't it grand to be human" feeling, the off-the wall pseudo-science (what the hell is a "quantum torpedo" anyway?), the Holodeck.

Added to this was the fact that the show almost became Shakespearean tragedy, when Picard was willing to sacrifice his crew in his quest for revenge.

F/X were impressive, I thought, considering the fact the pic was made in the mid-nineties.

I look forward to hearing from other Star Trek fans. And no, I haven't seen the new one yet.

its a great film, one of the best trek movies. It had all the trek feel and everything that makes a movie good (comic relief, romance, plot, etc)

Oh man. I remember that movie! I saw it a long time ago when I was in elementary school. I was never really a huge fan of Star Trek but I really enjoyed that movie. Sorta makes me want to watch it again. Heh, I remember when I was in 5th grade I used to watch Voyager pretty regularly, but I was never really hardcore about Star Trek like some people. The new one is pretty good too.

No it isn't, it's terrible. A flashy, lazors-go-pewpewpew, make-no-sense, vacuous awful film.

I did like the depiction of the vulcans in the new movie though, like all those kids in those holes in the ground doing math problems all day long.
