Anyone ever steal books from Borders? They have some pretty expensive programming books that I'd like but can't afford. AFAIK all they have on those books is the little rectangular EAS tags in the book, and it's not uncommon to sit down and read a book while there, so I believe if I can easily slip off the EAS tags while pretending to read the book (there's usually one in the front, one in the middle and one in the back, from what I've seen), and then just slip it into my bag and walk out the front door.

See any problems with my plan?

Acutally guys Pea is (ithink) the Pea from ZooASS. He's got a LOT of info, I've read his posts.

Also:

State of Illinois Shoplifting Laws.
Sec. 16A-4. Presumptions.

If any person:

(a) conceals upon his or her person or among his or her belongings, unpurchased merchandise displayed, held, stored or offered for sale in a retail mercantile establishment; and

(b) removes that merchandise beyond the last known station for receiving payments for that merchandise in that retail mercantile establishment such person shall be presumed to have possessed, carried away or transferred such merchandise with the intention of retaining it or with the intention of depriving the merchant permanently of the possession, use or benefit of such merchandise without paying the full retail value of such merchandise.

would that mean that if I concealed an item, in reality, anyone could not stop me in the state of Illinois as long as I "paid" for the item I concealed?
Sounds like I need to memorize 16A-4 to save my ass when I finally get caught.

Here's some good stuff Pea dug up at zooass. He really should come here and stay here.

Little is known about the actual LP staff and operation in these places (if they exist), but follow the general rules as if it were a Target and everything will be a breeze.

i have a story from lowes...
i went with my mom to go get a rug doctor...
i told her i was gonna go look for duct tape (which i actually needed)
so instead of just going to the counter at cust. service and setteling that 10minute issue with the rug doctor, she said, "oh ill just go with you because all we need is the tape and the carpet thing"
at this point im :facepalming:'ing like fucking crazy because i was thinking she would go get the carpet thing while i go get a few maglites and a shit load of dremel parts...no.
anyway we had it for 24 hrs...just finished our whole condo like 10min ago and im posting here,,,

SO.
im going back in an hour or so to return it (it was for rent only)
now she said she needs draino so that gives me a good 2 min to handle my shit if i go straight to dremels...what can i do to stall her?

Same here. I'm going lifting tomorrow (getting some sdhc cards and a camera case, badly need one lol) and lucky for me, I have after school stuff that I can walk out on without my mom knowing. 15 minute walk to kmart, yay.
(also good: after school means I can tote around my bookbag, but I'm not putting anything in it)
Whenever you carry a bookbag, that raises suspicion. I'll be putting SD cards in my shoe.

busted - from USA.

i need ur help people.

this weekend i got busted by lp at nordstrom with my buddy.

walked into the store together. we split up. i selected several items, went to the fitting room, removed the tags. stashed 1/2 the items in my bag along with the hangers. stashed the tags in the other clothes. walked out with some clothes in bag and some in my hands. put some clothes back on hanger. walked around the store and met up with buddy at different side of store. buddy did the same thing.

we walked out of the store and lp ran up behind us, this lp was a small dude which i could have knocked out easily, but i say 2 cops 50ft behind him , so didnt want to take a chance and went back to office. as we were walked back they made me sit at a chair in the hall, i stashed my tools in the chair, when i got up they checked the chair and found the tools, i said i dont know what those are. they have no cam footage of me stashing the tools there either, cause they tried to look for it.

in the office cops only found a set of pliers on me. buddy had a hook in pocket.

overall they had shitty footage of us at the store from what i heard, but the LP typed up a nice report from what he saw himself. he did find some of the items which i took out and hung back up with the tags in them. but there is no footage i think.

total ($700) was not enough to be a felony charge, but a misdemeanor, both our items were added together and this is going to be 1 case. so we are charged with larceny-misdemeanor, posseion of tools.....

went to the station, bailed out. court coming up. i DO NOT WANT TO PLEAD GUILTY with any type of good deal they offer. i want this GONE! NOT GULTY!

please give me some nice tips, something good so they can drop some charges right away....

any ideas?

Well I'll keep in mind that whenever I feel like getting caught, it's only a misdemeanor. You, on the other hand, will probably get your house searched for suspected stolen items and get locked up for a few with several felonies, such as burglary.

I explained it several times how i do it and yes 99% of it comes from wally world search back in my old post and I give pretty good detail on exactly how i do what I do =) talk to testerman or badgirl and they can back me up i've gone over stuff with them extensively on ICQ chat. and just keep in mind i've been at this longer than most of the people posting on this board have been alive.

well see thats why my method is far superior to yours my chance of getting caught next to nothing compared to yours and i've been busted 1 time in my life and I was a little kid then. i'm not worried about it.

So I felt like being nice and researching for a minute, and it means a bit more to me and the rest of zokletans if they are lazy. Like Tex.
Tex's box stuffing post:
hmm i always used Vacuum cleaners small cheap ones like 50-60 dollar ones just load it in the basket with the handle hole towards you, just kinda cruise around the store picking up stuff you want if it has EAS either peel the sticker off or if your not sure if it does open the package. in secluded place drop in the handle hole and keep moving...1 mistake alot of people make using blind spots...LPs know where there blind spots are in store...if they happen to see you on camera go down that isle and stay there for a while they get suspicous so make sure to have a good razor and be quick...i would practice opening some stuff fast before i would try doing it and stuffing box..get the technique down before you go box stuffing. i've done this at Sears,Target Wal-Mart and a few other places. just be careful and remember, rule number 1 of shop lifting...if it doesn't feel right don't do it..always trust your gut. if you've already got stuff out of the package and you feel like someone is watching or following you stash it somewhere out of site and leave...come back in a few hours if its still there take it if not forget it and move on to your next target. and rule 2 of shop lifting DONT get greedy...greed gets you busted.

when your done and get home unload the box...return the vacuum for your money back...just tell em you bought it for your mom or girlfriend or something and they didn't like it.

Another "tex" technique that everyone knows about
buy 1 and walk 2 out with same receipt at other 2 exit doors in walmart...return the 1 with receipt and get money back if the door alarm goes off who cares you have a receipt

And tex's longest post.
so here is one of my favorite lifting techniques at wally world...last year made about 4 grand in 2 weeks. between the 5 wally worlds near me. Go in scout out nice expensive item larger items work good so u don't have to bag them. I chose something from electronics that was $200.00 I bought it went out the same door i came in I pretend to talk to my wife on the phone. while the door greeter checked my receipt ..(make sure phone is off sucks when it rings and ur playing like ur talking on it lol) I would go on with a dialogue something like "no honey i forgot to get more diapers..no i've already checked out...let me put this in the car and i will run back in"... i would then take item to my car and come back in that door go grab another of same item makeing sure to avoid the floor people. i would then repeat same step on other door, and return for 3rd item. which i often stowed away in toys i would then go out the garden center with 3rd item same receipt only i would change my convo on the phone to something like...ok where are you.. I don't want (make up persons name ) to see his or hers birthday/christmas what ever. no no i'm going out the garden center ..yeah uh huh ok well just stay on that side of the store till i get it hidden in the car yeah i'll meet u in a minute...keep up the convo on the phone while greeter person is checking receipt. on some occasions just carrying a big heavy box and trying to hold a cellphone and receipt the greeter just smiled and waved me through...I would then wait a day or so and return the original item to different wally world than i would purchase it from. and sell the other 2. once i got lucky at the front doors because as i was leaving with second item on the last of the 2 main doors they were doing shift changes so i repeated the run on the 2 new door greeters and got 4 for the price of 1. another thing to not worry about is using a credit card for this scam for 2 reason.. wal-mart doesn't inventory every day...and they have to come up short on inventory 3 times in a row for that same item before they really investigate it...reason here is what they call buyer probability which basicly means if they do inventory and say they are 1 short of an item...there is a chance someone in the store at that moment has the item in there cart for purchase and or someone picked it up to buy...changed there mind and dumped it somewhere else in the store and it hasn't made its way back yet. I know for a fact on personal experiences i've set an item down say in toy department from electronics and came back a week later and its still there. LAZY ASS wally world people. and a good place to ditch opened packages is inside large boxes ...like a shop vac or something...chances of it being found are slim till someone buys that item...and there is a damn good chance that shop vac box is already opened from someone looking at it. so lift the flap and go...another thing wal-mart has is a intra-net system that is linked to every store. they can look on the computer and see how many of a item was sold over a 2 year period between all wal-marts combined...so be careful on returning some items with out receipts make sure its a common use item other people would probably buy on a regular basis. I ran into this with a $150 lego set the lady looked it up and said well we're not showing any of these to be sold in the last 6 months your wife must of got it at a different retailer ..(my cover story for return was my wife bought it we decided on something else for our son but we lost receipt. as for purchasing with a credit card it is safe as long as you return 1 with receipt with in 48 hours of purchase...it will remove the sale totally from there computer system...if you take it back after 48 hours it will show on there system as well as on ur credit card statements as a *return* before 48 hours it shows as a Credit to account and 99% of the time it doesn't even say its from wally world.

one more thing to watch for when doing this scam...on some items not many but some, Kodak photo printers for 1 they have different UPC (bar code) numbers on each one..so if you do this with a printer check the bar codes on all the items and make sure its the same as on receipt before returning it, i've only ran into this on a few things in the store mostly electronics and 1 time on a mountain bike.. so always double check your bar code with receipt when ur going to return 1 for credit. and yes i mean Bar code numbers not the serial number..these are different on any item and usually only high priced printers actually require them to be scanned when checking out.
Didnt even bother reading that, too long.

So there you go people, since Tex is such an ass he won't do that. But I'm fine spending my life being helpful.

So how do you get the "something" expensive out from the glass?
Every display camera I've seen at Sears/Kmart is bolted to the plexiglass window.

But I'm fine spending my life being helpful.
awww see there he didn't even bother reading it, what a pitty and ya know i'm only an ass to those who come at me like a little prick.

oh and the most important lesson to learn here is, learn from other peoples mistakes because you will not live long enough to make them all yourself.

this weekend i got busted by lp at nordstrom with my buddy.

walked into the store together. we split up. i selected several items, went to the fitting room, removed the tags. stashed 1/2 the items in my bag along with the hangers. stashed the tags in the other clothes. walked out with some clothes in bag and some in my hands. put some clothes back on hanger. walked around the store and met up with buddy at different side of store. buddy did the same thing.

we walked out of the store and lp ran up behind us, this lp was a small dude which i could have knocked out easily, but i say 2 cops 50ft behind him , so didnt want to take a chance and went back to office. as we were walked back they made me sit at a chair in the hall, i stashed my tools in the chair, when i got up they checked the chair and found the tools, i said i dont know what those are. they have no cam footage of me stashing the tools there either, cause they tried to look for it.

in the office cops only found a set of pliers on me. buddy had a hook in pocket.

overall they had shitty footage of us at the store from what i heard, but the LP typed up a nice report from what he saw himself. he did find some of the items which i took out and hung back up with the tags in them. but there is no footage i think.

total ($700) was not enough to be a felony charge, but a misdemeanor, both our items were added together and this is going to be 1 case. so we are charged with larceny-misdemeanor, posseion of tools.....

went to the station, bailed out. court coming up. i DO NOT WANT TO PLEAD GUILTY with any type of good deal they offer. i want this GONE! NOT GULTY!

please give me some nice tips, something good so they can drop some charges right away....

any ideas?
shouldnt have split up. when two ppl come into a store if they immediately split they know they're there for free shit.

and you guys took too much, and prob too long. if you went for lots of items, then thats why.. if you went for too many high value items, thats why..

Oh, and Tex, I deserve a Thanks.

Lol, I will admit, I won't be able to try your stunts for about 15-20 years from now.
I'm just a 14 year old sick of playing the government's "perfect system".

@Rolf: LOL
You also need lots of mascara and mousse.

you could vary easily, just save up enough cash to go in and buy a small LCD tv or something and do a 2 for 1 on it. or even 1 of those nice shelf stereo systems for couple hundred or even a few of those 100+ dollar lego systems. see on some items your age will help you because they will think its just some kid spending his Bday money

@tex Yeah, that's true. I bought a $250 Nikon a few days ago and they didn't bat an eye when I paid cash for it.
But the problem with the high dollar items is my mother's dying question: where'd you get the money? or the wtf, you have more money in your wallet? you dealin drugs?

It's a little harder when you're under 30
Unfortunately, by the time I look old enough, shoplifting probably won't be that easy any more.

Also, France sucks, everything of value is kept behind glass and there is no Black Friday. And stealing books and clothes is starting to get boring.

No I was layed off back in February and because I have a Felony conviction on my record i'm at the bottom of the food chain when it comes to getting a job, unless i want to work at McDonalds or some shit. (not going to happen.) My wife thinks I just buy and sell stuff on Ebay and other wholesale places. and yes my dear little 2 year old is a great thief lol guna have to watch her. I do what I do to support my family because the alternative is Bull Shit! why work 40 hours a week to make maybe 350-400 bucks when i can work 2 days a week for about 4 hours total and make between 600-1500 depending. some times more some times i go a week or 2 and not really do anything but personal wants. like my computer. some times i just want 2 for 1 items like the diapers today. ok why spend 30 something bucks on a box of diapers when you can get 3 boxes total for 30? buy 1 steal 2 when I was single I never would of thought of doing this stuff for profit really I just always got the stuff I wanted well now i'm stuck in a place where I can't make enough to support my family with a normal 9-5, 40 hour a week job so I do what I do to get by. this time of year is when i really kick it in to high gear and make most the money for the following year. after christmas season is over i'll go back to getting enough to pay bills each month and enough to take my wife out to dinner a couple of times.

get you a good place to hide it =) my self I have a 15X15 foot storage building full of shit i slowly trickle on to ebay and craigs list. i know your not old enough to get a storage building of your own but there has got to be a place in or around your house to hide the stuff and sell..and I know you can go in and open a savings account with out being 18 so go do that stock up your money save it for when your turn 18 you can move the fuck out and buy your self a nice car =) think about it.

LOL funny you should say that I can do Auto body and painting very well, I grew up in my grand dads body shop I just don't want that for a job =) and around here its hard to get into a body shop =) trust me i've tried

What I should of done was got into custom paint and body work back in the early 90's before it really took off and I could be making a fortune right now. problem is to many people are doing it now and its hard to get started

Im sorry Busted, I gotta laugh

'Im not taking a plea and I want these charges dropped right away'

There are tips to avoid LP. There are not tips to avoid your arraignment. Your time to negotiate has wellll passed. I really am sorry though /

Texas, in one of your posts that Invader posted you mentioned that theres 'little to no risk'

What the hell?

Box stuffing - if youre not going to blind spots, youre on camera dropping shit in your vacuum. And if youre shucking the packages, is there a significance between stuffing the product down your pants or down your box? (haha)

2 for 1 - ..really? I can never see that working out. Fine, LP probably wouldnt watch you go through the register the first time but walking back in, directly to your item then walking out? Shouldnt they notice the few people who dont exit via register?

well i got court this week. so ill let u know wtf is going on.....

im going to some SPECIAL court... looks like the average larceny charge gets 1 day of community serivice and $35 fine. i dont believe this cause doesnt seem real. and 30 days staying out of trouble = no charge = clean record.

imagine that! getting busted for $700 worth of shit, possesion of tools. and getting off with a $35 fine with 1 day of picking up trash, ,and clean record....

even if u are not guilty i dont think i would want to go to the regular courts and go in front of a jury....

i think ill take the deal.

and oh ya..... we are ADULTS as well.
