I normally tell girls about how slick I am when it comes to working from the terminal, and offer a Live CD in exchange for a phone number. It hasn't worked yet.

The advantage of Linux is neither girlfriends nor mothers can navigate their way around it. The worst part is it isn't hard.

At least it prevents people form asking to use my laptop.

Edit: Now that I think about it, I'm probably the only Linux user to ever have a girlfriend.

Probably because Ubuntu is the closest thing to a "mainstream" distro.

I have to install most software I use from source code, or if I'm lucky the .rpm will work.

I kind of like the challenge of having to learn how to do it, and not double click an icon and have everything work for you.

The recycling centre I might volunteer at, all go on about Linux. Personally, I couldn't give less of a shit, I think Windows is pretty good. I mean I like some open-source software like Open Office or Firefox etc, but you don't need to have your entire computer open-source, that's one step away from wearing hemp clothes and being a vegan.
