We need to leave Jeff alone. I don't think he or his friends want phone calls and emails from people asking him thousands of questions. Why do you think he shut down Totse? He was tired of it all. He said it himself that he just didn't have the time or the passion anymore to keep up with the community and the questions. I'd love to be able to talk to Jeff just as much as the rest of you but this quest to find him isn't going to lead anywhere or get the answers any of us want.

Cool Re: The Hunt for The Hunter: Tracking down Jeff Hunter. (Real information plus NEW LE

- We have found a self-portrait of him in one of the old Totse BBS screens!

- Show it to us!

- There you go:

- It has been confirmed that this is in fact the face of Jeff Hunter.

- I can't see his facial features clearly enough. Enhance it!

* Types some long command on the keyboard *

- Enhancement complete:

- It's him!

- Yeaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

One of them is Jeff S. Hunter, the other is Jeff J. Hunter. One of them may be him, but they're different people so it couldn't be both.

What are you going to say to him? Hey whats up? God the guy must be a fucking looser, he's been programming and running forums for the past 20 years, i'm sure his chat sucks. Totse sucked anyways, the last few years just died.

Knowing the pussiness of the average totsean (bill keller anyone? "OH SORRY FOR PRANK CALLING YOU. SURE I'D LOVE TO HELP RUN YOUR SHOW") it'd probably go like this...

Totsean:
BRING BACK TOTSE YOU FAGGOT! WHYD U DO THIS TO US!

Jeff Hunter:
No.

Again, people make the assumption that just one Jeff Hunter controlled the other place. Just like Ace Rimmer, the wig was swapped more than a few times, only for a light bee to find its way home and orbit a planet with its kind.

Has anyone made any phone calls yet?

Also, would there be any use in contacting Jason Stadofsky? He's the guy that runs Textfiles.com and was involved with BBS: The Documentary. He may have been in contact with Jeff Hunter at one point, and at the very least he was in contact with Dr. Strangelove(who appeared in the documentary).

Jeff Hunter is a god and a fucking piece of shit. He remains completely unknown after 20 years, the best hackers and e-celebs getting doxed in minutes these days. I have some clues, I've looked before, I may have even found his real name, but fuck you. Even though I like OP. But Jeff is a god and a fuckin shite.

What we actually know about Jeff, sysop of &TOTSE for 20 years:

- Well the whole 20 years thing is a fact in itself. This guy isn't some dumbass who jumped on the IT train when it became mainstream. To host a dial-up BBS system in 1989 is pretty intense, he would have been one of the pioneers in the feild.

- He lives in or near Walnut Creek, California, in the bay area. This information is due to the P.O. box that totse had.

- Through an enquiry through Metaphysist I found out that Jeff works 7 days a week for up to 18 hours. This sounds like a description of a programmer, and with totse being such a technological obscurity in 1989, this furthers evidence. Then, geographically looking at the bay area of California, Walnut Creek is located near the area referred to as 'Silicon Valley', America's technological software/hardware/internet center for research and intellectual export around the world. It is not an unlikely guess that he works for a major software corporation.

- Due to a few text files written on the original &TOTSE text file section, it is very safe to assume Jeff Hunter is at least a casual drug user. He alluded to use of cannabis.

- It is a very safe assumption he may be involved in a Walnut Creek libertarian group, or at least affiliates himself with the American political party in some form. .

I met him several times at social gatherings on N Main st in W/C along with his other group members.

The Big question is still why he did nothing to inform the Feds about the 9-11 threat in May/June of 2001 and why he threatened and kicked off a certain someone who brought it up right after the planes attacked. And why he always spoke of freedom of speech and allowing him to have written material on his website (Which he has a point) but then turns and refuses same rights to others. He never kicked anyone off up until then on his website.

Also there are other things in question. Another post made prior to 9-11-2001.

Walnut Creek is about 50 miles from Silicon valley. What is interesting is the guy who died in flight 93 lived right next to Walnut Creek in Danville. Along with the pilot who saved shitloads of people when he landed in the hudson river in NYC. as well as the Journalist who was beheaded by Al Queda. All living in the same area.

Looks like Jeff has been a corporate leader at many well known companies.

EA Games

Dolby

and some interesting places beyond that.

He went to the same University as President Obama?

There is another thing to prove who he is. Seems Walnut Creek City Clerk didn't want to tell me the name of a business owner which she claimed was confidential.. I was like WTF this is business records department.. it's fucking public information.

He ran a ethernet company in the 90s on South California near the bart station and from what I was told a computer store on Main street in Walnut Creek as well. doesn't take Magnum PI to walk in and demand info on the guy.

Lol, old ass thread. I emailed Russack ages ago and he said he'd forward my message on to Jeff , but never got a response from Jeff himself. Oh well. If he's still working by the time I graduate I might end up working with him on day, I wonder if he's any good as a programmer.

Yeah.. I figured so. I think about that every time I take the train past the white cross hill in Orinda. The 6600 plus the owner places on the hill everytime we lose one of our Soldiers.

And whenever I rehash the 9-11 moment on youtube knowing 3000 Americans died along with emergency workers and those Military and Civilian workers in the Pentagon.

But you're right and stuff!

Hmm, Walnut Creek is pretty easy to get to.

I wonder why Jeff never made a thread (that I know of) where he told us about his life.

Maybe I should go hunt for him.

It's not too far to commute between WC and SV if one wanted to. Many people do such commutes. One could even keep an apartment/condo in SV just for when he was too tired to drive home.

Someone call, and make sure you record it. There's an app for that.
archive aka waybackmachine is the best one.. i watched as the data was removed in real time one day and recorded it. where there is no such activity between may and sep of 2001. it's comedy at best.. then to make it look more consistent they removed some other months on other years where it wasn't removed before.

good site though for old films and such if you want to do a documentary on old NYC or San Francisco or any other metro region. Good for film students or history enthusiest but someone started pulling data on totse.. can only imagine who would do such a thing

Only read the first post but we found Joe a long time ago. Hell I'm facebook friends with him and chat with him regularly.

PS. Joe is a pretty cool guy.
