how do I become a pest exterminator?

seems like a well paying job, ability to be my own boss, low overhead to start. But I'm just not sure if there is a course I should have to take or is it just like an apprenticeship or something.

Volunteer to work for some qualified exterminators. If they like your work they can take you on. Learn to find termites. Then get a beagle trained to sniff them out as well. Not sure how much it is where you're from, but the going rate to have a termite test done on our house was $650. I knoe got big double stories it can go up to $900.

i think an apprenticeship would be a good idea. to be competitive, you would need to be aware of all the tricks and technology used to find the bugs as well as exterminating them, and i dont think its something you can just read from a book.

This seems to be the best advice. Start at the bottom and work up, you will need the practice in order to aquire knowledge of different species you might encounter. And trust me, hands on experience blows text books out of the water, but that isn't to say you shouldn't do your research.
