ArmA (Armed Assault) is from the same developers as Operation Flashpoint and is probably the most realistic game I've ever played in my life. Down to the gun detail, vehicles and health/bullet wound stuff. Especially with the ACE mod, you aren't going fuckin' anywhere with a bullet wound after you're shot.
I was dissapointed with ArmA and Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, but if you put the right mods into Flashpoint:Resistance then you have a truly awesome game. It bothers me tho that the ak47(shouldn't it be 74, or atleast AKM?) has 3rnd burst in that game and the ROF aint exactly realistic..

Wasn't dirrected to the OP... Was dirrected to an 8 year old I know that needs to read a fucking book and maybe get his chunky self on a treadmill.

As for being a firearms owner I have 9 at the moment and my critisism is valid.

I learned a long time ago a gun is a gun. Treat it as it's allways loaded and never aim it at anything you don't intend to kill.

Kids now addays just see another potential "Toy" that they've been L337 trained in to use...

In context that would be what bother me about the movies and games in how they influence the young.

I miss the days of the power rangers, At least I got to see kids drop kicking each other instead of them blowing their budies brains all ove the sidewalk.

I'll slow it down for you then.

I don't mind what the media programs, movies, or games portray weapons as being fired or how the actions work. It's a movie or a game it's supposed to be unrealistic.

What I do mind how ever is how it influences children and child behavior into beleiveing the you can disscharge a firearm without any reality into how it works or any of the real reprecutions behind it.

Loading a hand gun while being shot or headshots that don't kill in games don't worry me. Kids that don't understand it's a game and how far their immagination can go as well as actions, do.

As a gun owner I allways have my firearms locked away when other peoples kids may be around and at most I'll bring out my old pellet gun and teach them right from wrong as best I can as best they'll listen with parental consent.

The moment that gun turns into a toy or it starts being treated like it's a video game it goes away into the safe.
If they show the willingness to learn from their mistakes I'll not stifle them from learning, Only when what they desided to do is dangerouse to their health and the health of others.

Because Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising was basically what Pete Best did to the Beatles when he released Best of the Beatles. It was a different developer and everything, just look it up, irrelevant to this thread.

And nah, I think they gave the military AK47s to give them a more revolutionary, set in kind of feeling.

Does it piss anyone off when guns don't sound realistic on a movie or game? I mean, if I'm in a movie watching a giant fire-fight with bombs going off, why don't I need a hearing-aide when I leave? It's just ridiculous that with all of modern day technology they can't even make the guns SOUND right. What a load of bullshit.

Guns in fiction sound like what people expect guns to sound like. If they used realistic gun noises, people would claim it's fake.

They sound right to me. Its just they don't sound realistically loud and that is for good reason. they don't want to require hearing protection for a game or movie and they don't want to be held liable for that.

Infact in sounds pretty realistic anyway, it just sounds like it would if I had my muffs on.

I think there is one "real" AK47 but it's hard to find and only on one level.

The other rifles are a regular AK74 and the "AK47 CZ" which is just a VZ58, so I don't really know why they didn't call it that.

Most modern movies i have seen are pretty good, every now and then i'll see an old movie (like 50's - 80's) on tv late at night and it's really annoying, 'pew pew peeeeewww'.

Suppressed weapons are usually worse.

I started playing Bad Company 2 a couple of days ago and the sound is pretty sweet in that. Also, unless both my speakers and headphones have screwed up at the same time, your own weapon sound is louder through the left speaker which gets a little annoying but is a nice realistic touch i haven't seen before.

I agree with Dragon Rising being a piece of shit.

edit: One thing that bugs me with pretty much every action movie i have ever seen - The good guys have a massive shoot out with the bad guys, hundreds of rounds expended from short barreled weapons, often indoors, however seconds after the shooting stops everyone is having a nice quiet chat no raised voices at all. One exception that comes to mind is the M60 gunner in Black Hawk Down when that guy lets rip with the SAW next to his head, that scene always makes me smile .

I just downloaded Laser's US Weapon pack for Operation Flashpoint and, holy shit, it is the most amazing thing I've ever seen in my life.

M16A2s, A4s, M4s, with different camo, suppressed, unsuppressed, Aimpoint, ACOG, Trijicon Reflex, EOTechs.

It's fucking awesome.

Plus you carry a few mags worth of subsonic ammo if you have a suppressor equipped rifle.

The M249 with the Elcan and the belt full of tracers is fucking amazing too.

Flashpoint kicks major ass.

If you wanna try, test the "Swedish Forces Pack 4" mod for FP:resistance, it's good.
