Default How to seal a door shut from the outside?

I was thinking welding. Maybe three well placed tac welds. Only problem is that this is going to be done at night. And with a police station right next door isn't a good bad idea. Any other suggestions?

Whats that foam shit that comes in a can? I think its used as a sealant. But I don't think its that durable and used for waterproofing only.

Pennies?

Here's an idea, assuming it's a wooden door.

Make two L shaped wooden things. Screw them into the door (nailing will be too loud) and then place a large wooden beam across the front of the house, locking in with the wooden L's you just put in the door. (I fear I'm not very good at explaining things sometimes so I hope this makes sense.

I've never seen a house door that opens outwards

That would be awesome though as the hinges would be outside. lol

I should have elaborated. School obviously.

And no, I'm not trying to beat that Asians record. Lol.

Yes styro spray. That was probably a stupid thought.

Pennies, Hmmm. Seems weak.

Seal as in airtight, or as in unopenable?

The goal is to seal the doors so that the building cannot be accessed by normal means.

Some well placed wedges would be discrete and effective. As in, a small metal wedge placed between the frame and door, on the hinge side.

Do that then put a piece of wood through the handles and tie a giant purple bow around them too. Then some genius will take the wood out and untie the bow and be all wtf when it still doesn't open and he's holding a purple bow lol

I found that oddly funny.

Ok, I'll review the wedge idea.

Quick dry cement? Or could that just be easily hammered off?

I almost didn't post my idea, because of this, then I realized this was wrong. If the door opens outwards, one of the two sides of the wood are going to hit the side of the building, and the door still won't open. The wood working as a lock extends past the doorframe and when the doors are opened - inwards OR outwards - pressure is applied to the lock itself AND to the sides of the building.

Cool Re: How to seal a door shut from the outside?

I am assuming you just want to keep someone from opening the door, correct.

Epoxy.!.

Go to H-Depot / Lowes get a double tube self mixing quick dry epoxy.

If you can open the door .
Put the epoxy into the hole that the door latch goes into when it is closed. In about 10 minutes the door will never open unless you remove it from the frame

If you can not open the door If it is a metal door a piece of scrape metal will work best.
If not use a 2x4x6 epoxy each end of the wood /metal. Place one end on door - other on frame - hold in place about 3minutes. Again door will not open until wood/metal is removed.

Just what I'm looking for I think. Altho, removal seems to be pretty easy..:/

If you want to weld the school doors shut (I'm pretty sure you were the one who went to high school with me PandorasAssassin), I'm all in favor but what you should do is let a bunch of mice loose in the vents or something.

Our senior prank last year was that we all cut school again. Not too creative but the best senior prank because it didn't involve going to school.

If they lock the doors at night they just put the epoxy in the keyholes and anyplace else that you can git it into in all of the doors

In addition to whatever it is you decide to do, removing the handle certainly couldn't hurt.
