man right after i posted this thread it started raining and the internet went out. yes i am the runner, just watched what the nco watched. dog the bounty hunter and billy the exterminator.

he fell asleep pretty early but as always i stayed awake all night, then the nco from batallion staff duty came over and told me i had to be a roadguard for PT then come back to CQ and clean up. it was windy as balls this morning during PT so it felt a little cold. then came back and swept all the roaches that appear out of nowhere in the rooms to the outside again, sat around and then at 0900 walked back to my barracks and showered and changed and got some mcmuffins.

if you joined the army you, too, could be all you can be.

Have you had a deployment yet? I actually always looked forward to deployment, the stateside shit SUUUUCKS. It's just garbage. sleeping in foxholes isn't much fun, but at least you don't have to mow lawns, sweep floors, and do bitch work. Night patrols suck, but I'd rather pull a patrol shift than sit on base doing bitch work.

Afghanistan, five years ago was my first deployment, and 11b. 82nd. Exited my final deployment as SSG, got out and now I'm finishing my last year of my bachelors degree.

Oh and you're in for some real fun. The winters there SUCK. Especially if you're up in the mountains. Goddamn that's one place I don't miss though.

so i hear. we just came back from 30 days in wyoming for training in cold weather. it sucked, but i like being cold better than being hot. fort polk summers can eat a dick.

on CQ there are two people on duty, an NCO and a lower enlisted soldier. the NCO is usually an E-5 (sergeant) and he is in charge, the lower enlisted is anywhere from a E-1 private to a specialist as a "runner". i am the runner, and the job is what the title says. if the NCO needs me to do something i will run out and do it. but having to do something is really really unlikely. and the things that have to be done according to the rules have to be done by the NCO anyway, who rarely actually does them.
