I made a few bitter and adult decisions today

Basically, I woke up today and called my prospective summer job. I didn't get it. The past few weeks or so have been pretty much a nonstop binge of smoking weed, drinking, blowing benzos, and not doing anything. I hate being home which is no surprise, but with mounting issues with my life and no hope at short term work anymore, I made a few choices about my future.

1. I'm dropping out of college. I had mixed feelings about returning, but with nowhere to live this fall down there and the fact that I constantly have run ins with the law down there, plus the fact I've court in a week and face certain debt afterwards, I don't think I'm going to be attending college again anytime soon.

2. I'm quitting drugs. All of them. They aren't fun anymore, I'm not using them for "recreational entertainment" as much as an escape aid from my bleak reality now. So fuck that.

3. I want to work 40 hours a week for the next 2 years. Seriously. I just need to earn some money, lay low for a few years, and hopefully return to college afterwards.

I have to put direction into my life. So I'm doing what has to be done. Fuck having a life that's interesting, or fun, or "going somewhere later in life". I just need some serious money and to stay out of trouble for a long time.

We all have to wake up and face the facts sometime in our life. It isn't fun, and it's a bitch to admit it to ourselves when the choices we've made have led us down the wrong paths and fucked ourselves in the ass a bit, but that's the truth of life's lessons taught by experience. Hopefully you'll be able to return to school sooner than later. I'm 7 years out of high school and I regret not having gone to university. Now I'm too caught up in the working class lifestyle to afford the time or money to go back.

Honestly community college for associates, than a decent university for bachlors + using ratemyprofessor.com and I promise you its fucking simple.

You need to strike a balance. If you work entirely for two years, youll definitely stagnate intellectually and you'll be fuckin miserable.

I believe that's a pretty good plan, although I'd recommend going back to college as fast as possible.

If you quite college, the chances are you wont go back. I worked full time when I was at Uni full time and smoked weed. Its not hard, just takes a bit of self disicpline.

I would recommend against that. But it may be the best decision if your short of work. Still, if youre dedicated, you can scrape by with a part time job and getting an education.

I'm still emailing places about work, talking to old co-workers about it, and tomorrow I'm gonna go ask the landscaping place on the corner if they need any help.

My friend from college asked me if I wanted to live with him last night but this is the guy who had multiple parties a week last semester so I dunno about that.

And there's no way I would fall into the comfort of a full time job because I worked 6 days a week 2 summers in a row (2008 and 2009) and I hated it the whole time. That was probably because I hated where I worked at though.

I mean JUST like me man. I got kicked out of university, then went to community college and got kicked out. after like a 2 month period of being absolutely useless i took the first step and quit drugs. I had many relapses and shit but now I'm straight. I just got a job where I should get plenty of hours (30+) and I'm just gonna work for two years or something too. Right now I'd love to be going to school but then again I have no idea what the fuck for.

i know what you mean about using drugs as a crutch, they were all about partying in the beginning but then they were just so i wouldn't be bored or have to think about my legal troubles and how fucked I was. Now I'm sober and happy, as tacky as it sounds I use music as a drug now. and soon i'll be using money as a drug.

Quitting drugs is awesome, I managed to stay sober even though every single one of my childhood friends are now heroine junkies. I had a couple pillhead friends recover and I show them how fuckin great life is.

I know what you mean about the work thing. But why do you work? For money, to buy shit. Why? For entertainment, so you can look better, function better, and shit like that. I find myself working extra shifts and staying late so I can save for a new car and get the new iPhone on launch day. While that shit is enjoyment for myself, I know I'm gonna get enjoyment out of showing my friends and letting them play with my stuff.

It's nice that you want to get in a stable regiment of work sleep die. But you might be a fucking communist because that's what they believe in. So go ahead and die because America has no love for you.

I work 30 hours a week and take a full load of classes. 3 semesters a year spring, fall, and summer. Your best goal is to quit the drug use. Drugs were awesome in high school but it's time to grow up and think about the rest of your life. Release your stress in some bitches cooter.

Unless its underwater basket weaving, repeat back what your teachers give you in your handouts. You get the 'C', you get a piece of paper that means you'll be doing more than driving a forklift for 12 hours a day.

You need to harden the fuck up. Get the piece of paper, and work whatever to get enough to pay for a bed and a hot meal. You don't call one job. You call three or four a day, some in person. Fuck it. Drive a cab, do a night shift in the factory, whatever.

Just because one job doesn't call back you don't go "WELP, GUESS THAT MEANS THE END OF UNI AND FUN TIMES, TIME TO GO DOWN THE MINES."

Things have been going well actually. I'm going to get a haircut and then I'm gonna run around that park again. I got a text from that job that turned me down Friday telling me I have hours tomorrow and Tuesday, so I guess that's great news, even if the place is being weird bout it.

Honestly my life has done some 180's this weekend and things seem to be looking up for this week. Let's hope it stays this way so I can make a grand return to college this fall.
