Re: Cool Invention: Water filtering bicycle
um but wouldnt exerting the force to ride the bike/purify the water stationary cause the person to need MORE water?

Would exerting the force to open a fridge door cause the person to need MORE food?

Are you honestly comparing the effort of opening a door to a 3 mile bike ride?

of course, but the amount that is lost in perspiration is small compared to the amount that can be filtered. riding a bike is not very stressful, and in stationary mode, youre not using energy to move around, so youll filter more efficiently

I'm over exaggerating, energy pedaling and using that energy to filter water are on different scales of energy.
If you could filter a gallon of water every hour at 75% effort then you would have a problem.

Dude, the thing is made of hardly anything. A bike frame, plastic cover, two tanks, a filter and some tubing. How expensive can that be?

You don't even need that. Solar stills can be literally be made with a a tarp and a hole in the ground.

More expensive than a simple filter by itself.
