Tech support puts caller naked pix on the web after she calls Dell

Tara Fitzgerald of Sacramento needed help. The nude photos she had taken for her boyfriend were nowhere to be found on her computer, so she called Dell in December 2008. She was patched through to support tech Riyaz Shaikh, an employee of call service center in India, and gave him permission to search her PC remotely. What happened next was horrifying, said Fitzgerald:

"I watched him take the pictures out of my e-mail. I watched him."
More than a dozen of those pictures ended up on a site called "bitchtara." Shaikh offered his "help" again, allegedly telling Fitzgerald he could work on taking down the site if she sent him a brand new Dell laptop. Fitzgerald agreed:

"And I'm telling myself, my conscience is talking to me saying, 'Tara, don't send this. What are you doing? Are you crazy?' I sent it anyways because I really believed in this guy. I really had faith that he was protecting my dignity."

Photographs Appear On Vulgar Website

Following her initial contact with Dell's contract support provider, Fitzgerald received an e-mail from an unknown source notifying her that the racy photographs had shown up on a vulgar website established through a free hosting service.

The site, called "bitchtara," appears to have been created Jan. 7, 2009 and featured 16 nude and semi-nude photographs of Fitzgerald along with graphic descriptions of sexual activity she supposedly enjoys.

SACRAMENTO, CA - Dell responded Thursday to a report that one of its outsourced technicians in India downloaded nude pictures from a Sacramento woman's computer during a technical support call.

Tara Fitzgerald, 48, told News10 the incident happened in December 2008 when she authorized Dell Certified Level 2 technician Riyaz Shaikh to assume remote control of her Dell computer.

Riyaz was working for Sitel India, a company that provides outsourced technical support for Dell.

Fitzgerald couldn't find a number of erotic photographs she and her boyfriend had taken and saved to her hard drive, and she sought help from Dell support to find them before her teenaged daughter did.

Fitzgerald said she watched as Riyaz found the pictures and downloaded them to the host computer in Mumbai, India. Sixteen nude and semi-nude photographs later turned up on a vulgar website called "bitchtara," with Riyaz claiming ownership of the site.

In a written statement from Dell, spokeswoman Elizabeth Shine confirmed Fitzgerald contacted Dell about the incident last year.

"We investigated the issue, which involved a technical representative at one of Dell's vendors," Shine wrote. "We contacted the vendor about the allegation and can confirm that the representative no longer handles Dell calls. We've been in contact with Ms. Fitzgerald regarding this issue and continue to investigate her claims to best assist in a resolution."

The statement did not say whether Shaikh still works for the vendor, Sitel India.

Fitzgerald said Shaikh also used her Dell Preferred credit card to purchase an $800 Dell computer system for a woman in Tennessee he met through a technical support call.

Fitzgerald said the only response she had received from Dell prior to her contacting News10 was an affidavit offering her the opportunity to disavow the unauthorized charge on her credit card. The company had not acknowledged the improper behavior of its outsourced representative, she said.

Fitzgerald produced message logs showing that Shaikh used his official Dell messaging account last year to apologize for the unauthorized charge and to offer repayment. As recently as this week, Shaikh contacted Fitzgerald from his personal account seeking to establish an installment plan.

Fitzgerald said the unauthorized credit card charge is the least of her worries.

"He still has my pictures," she said. "And that scares me."

Level 1: Why take the pictures in the first place? moonmeister is absolutely correct... There is no need for her to give her boyfriend nude pictures of herself. It happens all the time... Girlfriend gives boyfriend nude pictures, they break up, and he wants revenge so he posts them everywhere.

Level 2: If someone absolutely feels they must take nude pictures of themselves, you'd think they'd be a little more careful with them and not somehow lose them on the computer. Put them somewhere safe and remember where you put them, as you would with any important file.

Level 3: Asking tech support to help her find nude pictures of herself is the stupidest thing she did in all of this. I can just imagine the support call...

I'm the type of person that just sees that as immature and stupid... she trusted me at the time with them, so I don't care how pissed I get at her or anything, it'd be fucked up to spread those around. You are a good man, however there are many others out there that wouldn't do the same. Im just saying girls better really be careful to who they give their nudes to (if they care about it being secretive, some girls just don't give a fuck).
