KIND OF URGENT : 5-0 question.

So i just got a few texts asking a few what if's.

Apparently this person (you're right, me) was sneaking around a neighborhood and got found out in a backyard and wants to know if there was no fingerprints and the only way of knowing who the actual person running away was the clothes (said they were looking out the window as he walked by, then saw cops swarm the place)(get rid of the outfit is what i told him), what is the police protocol on looking for trespassers? Forgive them is what I said... haha...

Anywho. He got caught looking around and knows even if caught it's petty. IDK, he says so. He is in the house a few doors down and could potentially be seen/remembered by the person who caught him...

Ideas?

Wind caught his cap and he went into the yard to retrieve it.
Looking for your dog or cat.
Little brother or sister was missing and he was looking for them.

You said the neighbor was looking out the window and seen him walk by.
I assume they didn't see him run?

There are 1000 legitimate reasons to have been in the neighbors yard.

I wouldn't sweat it.
Just give a legit reason for being there that can be proven by circumstance.

He was caught looking in a window, looked over at the other one and was being watched, then ran off. Opps. He should have played it cool. "I lost my dog and was looking in your front room to see if you found it." ... ha.

He says there is no fence around the house, guess that's good.

But more so the cops were called, 3 cars, no dogs, so what will they do with this? Continue to look for the person that was described? For how long?

One plus, dood lives in nice neighborhood with shatty apartments at the beginning of "village" across from said house. Sure the cops started the search there, not down the neighborhood.

Depends on what exactly the person who saw (you) told the cops, but it's pretty damn unlikely they'll call a field investigator to try to lift prints. If anything, they MIGHT snap a couple pics of shoe prints, then if they find anyone suspicious, they'll do a comparison.

If they think you were scoping the place out to rob it, they're not gonna give it more than a couple man-hours. If they think you were a peeping tom, maybe a dozen man-hours if there's nothing else going on in that district.

I have a text from him earlier saying "I had one of those "nothing bad has happen to me in awhile" feelings. No lie... haha.

Extra:
He said he never sees the people from this house and thats why he chose this house to look at. He knows the one looking outside does not stay there full time though, very good...He lives 2 doors down.... not good.

Anywho you should be okay, just so long as they don't recognise you. And seeing as your house wasn't visited immediately afterwards its safe to assume they didn't. Try not to wear the same combination of clothes that you did that day, as clothes are more recognisable than faces seen only momentarily.

Prints are really hard to pull off of most surfaces, so unless they had a camera you're not gonna be identified.

Don't go there ever again.

Just deny everything there is no proof of wrongdoing. Say you were never even there. "Eyewitness" testimony doesnt mean shit when it comes to evidence to press charges/whatever.

Seriously the cops aren't gonna be looking for you. That's soooo petty. ONE cop might have driven down the block looking for the "prowler" but they are def not gonna dedicate any time or resources on that and they are definitely not going to look for fingerprints because no crime was committed.
You can come up with a million reasons why you would be out there.
If they saw you looking in a window and approach you about that shit just say that you heard the "neighbor's dogs barking" or you saw someone's "flood lights turn on" and weren't sure if someone broke into your dear neighbor's house.

first off, STFU (SHUT THE FUCK UP) if caught... they got a call that there was someone suspicious waundering around the neighborhood. if some one calls again dont say anything. "Am I under arrest?" dont explain or say anything else thats what an attourney is for! but when and if that happens dont run, play it cool,

now if actually arrested and you don't say anything at all to the police your atorney will be able to get you off without question... (in court)why were you walking around @1am? i just got an 'filll in blanc' (football, toy ,soccer ball, etc.) and was playing with it and forgot to bring it in, i went out to get it and couldn't find it! i was worried sick about it and couldn't sleep then thought i remembered where i left it.

Not that anyone cares, but apparently some one else is running around now... haha. So now I'm on the look out. The cops have been called at least 3 times... I think they are using this brake in between fences on the side of my house to jet out of the neighborhood now... I haven't talked to the cops yet but have looked out the window and saw all my neighbors outside one night and two cops walking around my house. ha.

That is a horrible excuse lol but at least you thought of something.

The cops will look for people with similar descriptions to the suspect but they know people layer clothes and peal them off to try and avoid detection so if they see someone with a similar, race, height, and build in the area they will probably have a chat with them.
Also, you wont be convicted if you were caught based off your clothing description because the victim must be able to ID your face not your clothing.
Just like people are the victim of a crime with a vehicle involved they say " oh I got the license plate" well that only proves/confirms the vehicle was involved, the person driving must be identified also or they don't have shit to go on.

It'd be prowling at most, if you had tools with you - conspiracy to commit burglary, if you have stolen property you'd be charged with that...

so if ever out at night and the 5-0 shows up, run if you have something illegal, hide it and if caught say you didn't want to be in trouble for curfew or something.
