How Much Longer Will The Lulz Last?
Well first off credit for the title goes to Frank, because to this day he wrote the only song I can remember all of the words to.
Well I was thinking about life today, and I realized that I still haven't accepted the fact that no matter what, I'm going to die. It's a simple fact, we'll all die some day. Even if it stares me in the face though, I just can't possibly fathom death. Personally I've thought a bit about how I'll die, but I've never really thought about when. I don't mean when in a calendar sense of the word, I mean it in relation to our own spiritual satisfaction. I get that we'll never know if we're truly satisfied, but I assume that we all have general goals in life that we'd like to achieve.
So my question to you all is, at what point in your life do you think you are going to die? Will you be happy in death or sad? Will you have accomplished what you're here for? Will you have all that you can have, or will you go on to death holding the remnants of dissatisfaction? Are you taking bitterness to the grave?

How the fuck can anyone answer this question? Since no one knows when they'll die (for the exception of suicidals), you can't possible tell how you're going to feel. It would be nice if I died happy but, I just don't know if that will actually happen.

That.
Every night I go to sleep I do it as a different person, and every night at some level permanently lose that part of myself. Then I descend into oblivion, and soon after that the fireworks tend to really start.

I suppose all you can do is aim for a "happy death".

Re: How Much Longer Will The Lulz Last?
It's a subject I've dwelled on for a while... Not the "when am I going to die?" part in itself, but rather the "spiritual satisfaction" part. I guess it's natural, starting to think what you're really meant to do, and who you are. The latter is the most catchy, since I often wonder if the small things that we consider to be ourselves really are what makes us "us".
Also, thinking about death is interesting at times, but if you let the thoughts consume you, you might as well be dead already. Even if it sounds cliché, death can come at any fucking second, and you'll never be completely ready for it.

Re: How Much Longer Will The Lulz Last?
I just try to remember that I, like all people, am such an insignificant speck in the universe that death isn't that important. Nothing's really lost in the grand scheme of things. Even if I'd spent my life fixing all the ills of civilisation and wanted to live to see its benefits forever, it doesn't really count for shit when you think about it. They won't be talking about it in Andromeda, that's for sure.

Faulty question. IMO, we live far enough in the future that life extension science will keep getting better and better, such that if you never fall off a bridge or get shot, you'll live forever. That might not be true, in which case I'll die at ~65 from cardiovascular complications, but in all likelyhood I'll die at age ~5 billion when the sun finally explodes.

Re: How Much Longer Will The Lulz Last?
I've actually had a near death experience, and let me tell you... in the moment of death you wont really give a shit about what you did, or didn't achieve. You will accept it utterly and completely.

When I become a retired old man, I'll spend the rest of my days smoking pot and doing psychedelics. That surely can't be that bad. Maybe take a huge dose of LSD in my death-bed, just for the lulz.

Why not--it worked for Aldous Huxley. I rather doubt he was chasing "lulz," however.
Back to topic--death is an illusion. Granted, a fucking convincing one, but still an illusion. We are life, and life never ends.
It does go though some heavy changes, one of which is what we commonly refer to as "death."
Right now, I am 63, and life is just starting to get really interesting. I intend to stick around for at least another 30 or 40 years.
