Default Longevity of Stuffed Haddock...Answer Quickly!

Quickly, only because it's trash night, and if it's inedible, I'd rather not wait till next week.

We got some crab stuffed haddock and salmon for new years, and ended up using drugs that aren't conducive to eating. The crab stuffing was premade and inserted into the fish fillets - one of those we prep it, you just pop it in the oven deals.].

It was purchased on 12/31. Oddly, it says that the it had to be used by 1/1. Usually these meals are prepared on site on the day they expect to be sold. This makes me concerned that it has a very short fridge-shelf-life.

Assuming it was as fresh as any other fish in the store when it was purchased 6 days ago, and it's been refrigerated since then, is it safe to use, or iffy?

Lemme know so I can cook it up; I had the haddock one a few days ago, and it was delicious.

if its slimy or smells extremely fishy its a no go usualy the fishier it smells the older it is.

i would probably toss it if it was sitting thawed in a fridge and it didint pass the above test

Why are you so concerned about eating food that's only a few days past its expiration date and yet consume all sorts of drugs without worry?

Lol. At most it'll taste bad and you'll not eat it or you'll get the shits for a night. Jesus fucking christ...

I'm not too concerned. But, if taking one minute to post here can prevent me from getting sick for a day, it was time well spent.

And as for drugs, I've heavily researched any drug I've ever used over the course of many years. I know exactly what they're doing to my body. I have absolutely no concerns on most of my use; I've actually been relatively abstinent for over a year because of testing, and due to the infrequency of my use and correct use of those drugs, I expect I could continue at this level indefinitely without harm.

The two exceptions are the synthetic cannabinoids and tobacco. Nobody knows what these RCs are doing to the body long-term, and I wouldn't be surprised if we all suffer horribly years down the road. And I wish I could quit tobacco.

But, I know nothing about how long fish will stay good for. Certain foods are good for long after the use by date, even some you wouldn't expect to be (milk). I almost never have fish, so I've never dealt with it before.

Fermented fish is a delicacy in some countries, so just keep that in mind while eating it.

This site, for instance, says pathogenic bacteria can grow in fish after 1-2 days. Hate to waste it, but...

There's only one way to know. Eat that shit. If it's still in a sealed package and refrigerated it should be allright.

I freeze all seafood products until the day I'm ready to serve them.. even after I cook them. they might spend 1/2 a day in a fridge then they go back in the freezer into individual serving portions
