Want to know more about downloading movies and viewing

Currently I find torrents better than hotfile or rapidshare.

When I search for a movie there is almost alway sa tonne of choices.

What is H.264 AAC I am guessing it essentially means greater quality in a smaller download than mp4 options.

Xvid and DivX are very common . I take it that these are codecs. All my pcs and sw can handle them so should I prefer one ofver the other.

What about when the seed value is zero. Those that refer to actuall seeders or just ratings? I assume you should go for a lot of seeders but what about when you have a lot of plus reviews and a lot of minus. People with different opinion about quality perhaps- is it?


Is it corect to say BR is best option but will take longer usually.

I have DVD and Blueray burner and currently use Nero to render disk images and burn disks for both types of media but a friend told me I am crazy not to use windows media player and avoid any physical output.

I agree in a way it would be handy.

What is the minimum hardwear requirrement for this.

I was thinking of a labtop with HDMI out and a solidstate OS Harddrive.

Does Windows media player just run ontop of win 7?

Doesn't really matter I think, like you say pretty much every PC can play both so not a big deal.

IF the seed value is 0 there's no seeds. Sometimes different sites aren't updated with certain trackers so it'll say there's none and there might be a few but usually it means there's none.

Usually can't go wrong downloading the one with most seeders. Hard to say why a torrent could have lots of positive and negative reviews, could be opinions on quality or the way it's packaged etc.

Not too sure on this, could be the name of the people releasing it (like Skidrow for games) or could be double layer like you say. REL could also just mean Scene Release or something, not too sure.

Always used Nero for DVDs personally.

H.264 AAC refers to the Video and Audio Compression Standard. H.264 being a video compression standard, and AAC being an audio compression standard. Advanced Audio Compression, to be precise.

REL = Release, usually direct from the source, where as DL = Download, i.e. someone has downloaded it and re-uploaded/released it. (I think.)

Just get a laptop with HDMI out and a decent HDD, and plug it into a big screen as a projector (Windows Key + P) and watch movies that way. Most computers these days have the capability to play movies, and most computer monitors have a higher native resolution than "720p" so you can watch HD Rips just fine!

Use VLC instead of windows media player to avoid having to download a million codecs.
