Yes it a nice demonstration of making a truce and being humane and civil but I am just saying, that is not going to do shit as far as getting rid of the already existing extremists. It plants a seed for the future and everything but there is that nagging problem that comes back of islamic extremists/extremists in general in existence.

What these people have done is beautiful, it's a step, albeit a small one in the right direction. Events like this DO help because they are bringing people together in spite of their differences to work together towards one common goal, which in this case is freeing Egypt from this senseless extremist violence.

Of course not, but it builds towards the cultural understanding that it is not and nor will it ever be acceptable to target civilian; especially for a cause as ridiculous as religious fundamentalism.

If you take your gun, and (inevitably fail too) just try to hunt them down to the last man- you'll soon find another generation has arisen to oppose you. And maybe, if you're so trigger-happy, with good reason.

Actions like this are good, and are to be applauded. Even if not for the greater goal, they still protected this group of people in one instance, so if nothing else they've helped saved lives.

But the idea that "it builds towards the cultural understanding that it is not and nor will it ever be acceptable to target civilian" will never deter someone who's entire belief system is based around Jihad/Crusade/Holy War/ whatever the hell you want to call it......

Yes, things like this are seen far too rarely and the world would be a better place if people acted like this more often. But no amount of kindness will ever remove violence
