I don't hate my job, then again I don't work a 9-5 job. I think that's the main reason for not hating it.

Re: does everyone hate their job?
I've hated every single job I've been at.
And now I can't seem to get hired because of my criminal record. And I don't have enough experience to work anywhere other than a walmart or something, so my life is progressively getting worse in that aspect.
On the flip side, my progress in spirituality and overall intelligence has skyrocketed!

No, not really.
The trick is finding a job that is not repetitive and challenges you every once in a while.

Re: does everyone hate their job?
My ideal job would be a fucking lumberjack. I'd love some back-breaking labor. My job I recently got fired from was a cashier at a movie theater. No regrets, fuck that job, I hate working with society in any way.

I only like back breaking labour myself, as long as there are interesting projects to do. Those only happen in the summer months for me though

Re: does everyone hate their job?
I did some roofing last summer. It's like shoveling snow, except you're shoveling rocky fucking shingles and it's hot as balls and you're on uneven ground and the sun is just beating down on you. I fucking broke myself doing that, I went as hard as the guys that do it for a living. Sure felt that the next day.

Re: does everyone hate their job?
I usually work for parks and recreation during the summer, doing labour, and its everything from generic park and sports-field maintenance, to installing new playgrounds and ripping apart old infrastructure-which can be very challenging and a lot of fun.
Any work I find especially fun if you're lucky enough to be working with your friends, and don't have to be working at the speed of light.

I work 1:30pm to 10pm. I do maintenance at a packing house. Not like janitor shit, but like actual mechanical/electrical work.
I love my hours. Don't have to get up till the crack of noon, slave over a hot microwave, and when I get back home, I can still suck the life out of a cold one.

Re: does everyone hate their job?
99.99% of people hate their jobs. The best thing is to find ways to make the days pass faster. Last time I worked I just used to pull pranks around the office and surf the internet. It was still shit though, and I hated getting up and going to work.
My advice to you is to try and do something self employed. Fuck knows what though, you'll have to figure that out yourself.
Maybe just live out of a van or something, it would cut your costs drastically and you could live anywhere. I am also seriously considering this an option.

i did that for a while. but then one day your van breaks down and it always happens when you dont have enough money to fix it so inevitably it gets towed and you find yourself suddenly homeless. that sucks seriously.

living mobile does sound attractive tbh, with decent solar panels and an ol diesel engine that runs off vegetable oil (or similar), then you could prob power a microwave+phone+laptop easily enough. to me, having contact with the world would be essential with van living.

i used to have an inverter that plugged into the cigarette lighter and was enough to charge phone and power laptop. i even had a travel kettle which was very useful, you can do a lot with a kettle, not just make coffee, i would have pot noodles, and heat tins and packets of food too. also used to go through a lot of cereal when i was in the van. when using an inverter you do have to be careful to turn the engine every few hours for a little while tho, a good few times i fell asleep while watching a movie on the lap and woke to a flat battery.

It's not that I hate my job. I hate my fucking manager. Ever met and inbred hick that can't stop eating or shut up? Yeah. Slowest one in the kitchen and mentally... deficient.

Re: does everyone hate their job?
The worst is when you have alternating night/day shifts through a work week. Though I've known a couple persons with that shift style who worked at a small airport refueling and de-icing dc-3 airplanes in ungodly cold weather, and they seemed to get the hang of it.
Those tolerant stoners I tells yeah.

so where did you park up?
I've got 2 months to prepare for my van-life should it come, I'm seriously thinking about buying a small piece of land and parking it, whats the worst that could happen?
It would give me as much time as I needed to build a cabin.

Re: does everyone hate their job?
People hate their jobs because most jobs are just being another cog in the system. Fortunately the job I have right now is just temporary, but I'd probably kill myself if it was going to be my life-long career. Right now I move around boxes and put labels on them and shit. Not only is it monotonous, repetitive, tiring, etc., but generally everyone I work with is incompetent. Plus I get the job done so fast(not necessarily by choice) that when I'm done with the day's work, I end up having to sweep the warehouse floor and pretend like I'm working, which in itself can be challenging. Just today I spent two hours trying to make it look like I'm working rather than just standing around. At one point I got so bored with just cleaning the floor that I was able to hide under a stairwell. I really hate this job. You'd think that a job where you spend time doing essentially nothing would be good, but the novelty dies really quick. Especially if you've just worked your ass off, and if you're doing nothing, all you want to do is just go home.
I'm currently studying to be a CG animator. It's not my dream job necessarily, but I'm hoping that I end up enjoying it. My dream job is to be a voice artist, but it's not really the best industry to get into. These days a lot of projects use just regular actors to fill voice roles.
But anyway, back on topic. There's a lot of incompetence at most jobs. There are few jobs I've had where I didn't feel like I was more qualified to be the boss than my boss was. Actually, this is how I feel right now. My supervisor isn't the worst I've ever had, and he's generally a nice guy, but he can be pretty lazy and when he makes mistakes he sometimes thinks that they are my mistakes(I don't think he does this on purpose. I believe he actually thinks that I made the errors). As far as my fellow employees go, three of them started at the same time I did and they still can't fucking figure out how to properly clock in with their time cards. Yeah, they're that stupid. I was at first surprised that these guys were in their mid 30s and they have kids and they're working a shitty job like the one I have at age 22. Now in principle, I have nothing against people because of their economic bracket they're in, but once I learned about how pathetic these guys are I realized it makes perfect sense that they are in the situation they're in. Somebody shoot me if I am still stamping boxes at age 38 while raising 3 kids. Also shoot me if I'm 38 and I don't know how to use a time card after a week of using it(I'm being generous here).
I really am jealous of people who enjoy their work. My girlfriend is a year younger than I am and she has her dream job and she loves what she does. I am truly jealous of her. I still don't even know if what I'm shooting for is worth it, and that is fucking stressful. It's one thing to study something at school, but I don't know if I'm going to like actually doing the work. It's frightening, really. By this point, if I can't keep up with my career, I just may end up stamping boxes and sweeping floors for the rest of my life. I sometimes daydream about being a homeless traveler, which would be kind of an interesting adventure, but like everyone else I scare myself into staying a cog.
