Music enhancing drugs
Hey guys i was just wondering which drugs enhance your music listening experience, and music creating skills.
Which drug would be best for the job?

Re: Music enhancing drugs
I don't think I've tried a drug that didn't enhance music. The only exception would be drugs like DMT and salvia, where you would be too fucked to even know if music were playing or not for the duration of the trip. My favorites are marijuana, ecstasy, and LSD.

Re: Music enhancing drugs
I don't know, I don't find dissociatives like ketamine and stuff really improve music. At least not all music, it just sort of makes it 'different', and in some ways it can detract. But I guess that's dissociation for you. The sensory world becomes less relevant.
The big ones for me are really the obvious ones. Weed, LSD, MDMA, 2C-B, etc.

Re: Music enhancing drugs
"not salvia"
Oh, not any large dose, certainly, but I've found that the stuff does enhance music, both during the after-effects from a 'traditional' experience and in very small (sublingual) doses.
Then again, I don't normally really like music...

Weed, shrooms, ecstasy, lsd. Kind of obvious but damn they make music soooo much better.

Re: Music enhancing drugs
I was going to try dxm with a friend and ended up doing a lot of reading on it... apparently a first plateau trip makes everything sound really really full.
too bad his parents caught him smoking weed.

Frankly, I find DXM shitty and not worth it. It's not entirely devoid of positives but it just mostly makes me feel like crap, I'd rather be sober. Meet some drug dealers and actually get some enjoyable stuff instead.

Re: Music enhancing drugs
Alcohol (in small quantities), weed, MDMA, and psychadelics for listening. Some people say k, but I've never seen it personally. The best for actually playing is either just plain old weed, a couple of beers, or total sobriety I find, and I jam with people pretty much every day. Jamming on acid is just triiiiiip-out but I don't know how good it sounds to someone else.

Re: Music enhancing drugs
Depends on the music. For psychedelic music obviously LSD, but for speed metal perhaps stimulants or amps in a party enviroment. For XTC obviously fast psychedelic music.

This is the direction i want the thread to go.
I know weed, lsd, shrooms, x, all obvious. Just want to know about some of your guys experiences, and what drug compliments what music best.
Cocaine and metal, or even club music goes perfectly.

Re: Music enhancing drugs
This song and Ketamine
(Autechre- VL AL 5)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UU8gf1gGnfg
Normally I can hardly listen to this song, it's almost too weird for me. But on K I find it amazing, for some reason.
I find really cold, clinical, robotic, weird music suits the K experience best, and pretty much nothing but.
edit: Also, this one (Autechre - V-PROC)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUiLknTgEWM
Actually, Autechre on the whole, and Ketamine, go really well together.
But they work exceptionally well with LSD, I find, as well.

Re: Music enhancing drugs
LSD has profound effects on auditory perception. You'll hear music differently, but more importantly, you'll listen differently. Mescaline can also give you a powerfully altered perspective within music.
While I cannot vouch for it and it would be difficult to find, compared to other RC's, DiPT has potential which perhaps exceeds these two in augmenting the perceptions of music.
EDIT: No idea how the fuck I even found this thread in the first place, just to bump it after two years...

Re: Music enhancing drugs
Throughout my drug taking career I have to say that weed has given me the most music listening enjoyment. When I first started blazing back when my tolerance was really low, I would get high and just lie on my bed, space out and listen to music. I felt like my mind could pick up all the distinct layers of the music and I would notice subtle nuances of it that my mind would pass over while sober.
I've also had lots of good times getting lit out of my mind and riding around with my friend blasting dubstep. Sometimes, the vibrations from the bass would feel so good, and I felt like I was soaring and vivid fantasies would run through my mind, like imagining myself above the Earth looking down on it. Unfortunately, I don't experience these kind of highs as much 'cause my tolerance got jacked up from using a bong more regularly.

Re: Music enhancing drugs
I've always had a thing for alcohol and 1980's American hardcore punk.
