Granted, these were two barely teenage girls, one of which I mistook for a moose with a wig on before enlarging the photo who were mercilessly bullied. Sad that they did it but also a stupid decision on their part.

Based off that death threats shouldn't be heeded because they're "just words" and to tie this into my point, death threats count as 'bullying and trolling'. Also others people of you is 'meaningful information', especially to very social and extroverted people. (Neurotypical) humans are social animals to the point that isolating humans from each other is and has in the past been used as a form of punishment.

When you are trying to hurt someone or make them feel low and that has been accomplished, then the words carry meaning. Obviously they carry enough meaning in these two kids that they needed to do something to escape that pain. You can say it doesn't mean anything to you because that's easy to say, but its not true for everyone.

That being said, words are symbols to point to the energy we are trying to translate. They have no meaning other than what we are attempting to communicate. Does that mean they have no meaning at all? No, I don't think so. A tree can have enough value to a person to where if they watched it be destroyed it could damage their psyche. You don't know what triggers emotion in different people.
